Commercial Description:
Eisenbahn’s Defumada, very much like the famous smoked lagers of Bamberg, Germany, is brewed with a special, smoked barley malt, giving it a rich, smoky flavor and aroma. A delicious and immensely satisfying lager.
Ideal temperature: from 4 to 6 degrees

Batch #05. 12oz, twist-off, amber colored bottle. Dark blue label. Light brown color, almond colored, foamy head. Very good lace. Aroma of smoked malts and charcoal. Sweet smoked ham flavor. Very sweet, good amont of smoke, some cheese. Smoked gouda. This beer will go good with a cheeseburger. Definitely a food beer.

Bottle from OTH. Pours light brown with aroma of band aid, smoke, peanut shell, roasted malt, brown sugar, and slight campfire. Flavor is smoke, bandaid, and campfire. Not a bad rauch.

Dark brown pour with a short foamy head. Roasted malt, smoke and caramel in the aroma. Smoke does not come through as much in the flavor. Average on the palate. Not too impressed.

Nem sempre agradável. Precisa de uma combinação melhor com o prato que a acompanha.

12 oz. bottle, "Batch No. 06." Pours a slightly murky brown with a chalky layer of foam. No worries about smell, the smoked malt is right there and pretty much equal to the German style. Smell also has a bit of phenol to it. Well, that’s the chance with an undated import bottle (and also a characteristic of smoked beer). But I do find it pretty tasty. Smoky, but not overwhelmed with bacon or… no, there’s a distinct thread of gouda cheese at the back of my palate. But it’s worth finding. Not very complex, but this has a strong malt backbone with some sweetness to give it more roundness than "just" a smoked beer. Sticky malt finish.

Poured into a seidel. Clear copper color with an ecru head that fizzes out pretty quick. No lacing. Aroma is salted meat with a mild phenolic plastic note. Some sweet caramel tempers the smoke, making this beer less intense than the Schlenkerla rauchbiers. Flavor is pretty much identical. Nice light smokiness, not like drinking a Christmas ham. Light body and pretty clean. Drinkable and even kinda refreshing.
