| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Aug 6, 2008 This is indeed an immensely satisfying lager, though the smoked malt is understated. Pours a perfect amber pint with a suitable top. Pleasant amber malt aroma with hint of honey malt and some grain. Wonder malt flavor, akin to a good amber ale. Superbly crafted with a hint of smoke adding a complementary complexity. SudsMcDuff (1703), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 21, 2008 Pours a very attractive crystal clear amber brown with a three finger, cream colored head. The nose is smooth and slightly smokey with a touch of bitterness. The flavor is quite the same. This beer is all about subtlety. There is a bit of a vegital hoppiness in the finish that dropped the overall score .1 for me, but still quite easy to drink. MrBunn (1548), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 20, 2008 Bottle. Pour is a dark amber/brownish copper with a pretty big head and sweet caramel/bread dough and nut aromas. Smoke comes through in flavor much stronger, however and it is fairly interesting to see how it mixes with the flavors that are also present in the nose. While it is fairly interesting to see how this plays out in a "lager," it sure doesn’t hit a chord with me... fidel (999), Livermore, California, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 11, 2008 Pour is a dark red with a tan head. Aroma is mildly smoky with some biscuity malts. Flavor is again a very mild smoke with a nice roasted malt. You probably could not handle more than one of these in a night but this is easy to drink for a smoked as the smoke is very subtle. Deffinatly not a bacon bomb. nearbeer (1862), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 7, 2008 12 oz, batch no. 05. Hazy, dark copper with a small, creamy and persistent head. Charred hickory and smoke aroma. Flavor is earthy pit-smoke, a touch of piquant fruit, caramel, and charred herbs. Light-medium bodied, almost smooth, chalky dry, and a bit tingly. Nice smoke flavor, but seems to need more malt backing and/or body.
