Jan 5, 2008 Bottled. A brown beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is slightly smoked combined with light notes of malt, caramel, and rope. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel as well as lighter notes of smoke, and rope, leading to a dry slightly bitter and slightly smoked and toffeeish finish. Too little smoke for my liking.

Feb 24, 2008 Updated: Apr 25, 2008Bottled. Dark amber, creamy beige head. Smokey sausage aroma. Sweet and creamy, very soft, with beechwood smoke covered in toffee and caramel. Low bitterness. Well structured.

Aug 29, 2007 Bottled. Deep golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is sweet malts and hops with slight smokyness. Flavour is smoked wood, slight fruits and some salty notes. Quite pleasant.

lasting fine beige head leaves specks of lace,
lots of sweetness in the aroma to balance the heavy smoke,
big thick malt body with a bit of stickyness,
the rich malty flavor and sweetness is a lot like a bock, the smoke does a great job of balancing the sweet malt, little to no bitterness

Jul 22, 2007 Bright golden-brown. Rich cold-smoke...deep earthy caramelly malts as well. The body is somewhat slick and caramelly, with a smokey signature. I love the smoke but the underlying lager lacks that certain something...I don’t like the caramel and it doesn’t work well with the smoke.

Sep 2, 2007 (12oz bottle) Medium beige head that mostly diminishes atop crystal clear copper body. Aroma is medium sweet, smoked cheese, light smoked meat, caramel. Taste is medium sweet, smoke, caramel. Ashy aftertaste. Medium body, lightly sticky.

Aug 16, 2007 Bottle at GBBF 2007. Very attractive chestnut colour, thin beige head. Definitely smoky, but a bit of candy sugar and thin. Over carbonated. Bit disappointing. Good smoke though. Oily.

Bottle at GBBF. Mid amber with a fast dissapating head. Lovely creamy smoked malt aroma with a little metallic note underneath. Meaty and fatty flavour that is a little too mellow in the smoke department for me. Slightly over carbed mouthfeel. Just a bit on the sweet and oily side but a pleasant surprise over all.
