Commercial Description:
Eisenbahn’s Defumada, very much like the famous smoked lagers of Bamberg, Germany, is brewed with a special, smoked barley malt, giving it a rich, smoky flavor and aroma. A delicious and immensely satisfying lager.
Ideal temperature: from 4 to 6 degrees

This was really nice, pours honey amber with a tall white head. Very potent smoked nose, sweet and bold. Just an amazing sweet earthy smoked taste with a smooth body. This really impressed me, i’ll be picking up many more 6 packs of this.

Fantastic smoked lager, moderatley unfiltered (and/or bottle-conditioned). The flavor is heavily smoked with a serious underlying sweetness; maple syrup and bacon, but softer. Crisp carbonation and woody flavors all intermingle with the smoky sweetness. Aroma is subdued but fantastic. Mouthfeel is tremendous; light and sparkly but not watery. The flavors are quite intense. My only complaint is the sweetness is a little much. The color is beautiful copper. This is an outstanding beer; my new favorite smoked lager.

12 oz bottle shared with willblake and Dickinsonbeer. Poured an orangey/reddish/amber with an average white head. Aroma was lots of smoke with a sweet honey type aroma. Palate was very pleasant with a light body and some noticable carbonation that made this very quaffable. Flavor was lots of smoke with some woody notes and a lingering smokiness. This was one great beer and only enhanced by the fact that it ws from...........BRAZIL??? Wow first Jui Jitsu, then waxing and now beer. I love Brazil.

12oz bottle, batch 04, introduced to my system on 7/30/07. Vigorous pour into a large fluted snifter yields a big fluffy tan head above a very nice deep amber beverage. Aroma is an interesting mix of smoked malts and ripe fruits, is that candied pears mixed in there? Very well balanced smokiness with a great malt profile and just a hint of hoppiness. Quite possibly the most balanced Rauchbier out there, I appreciated not being beat over the head with the smokiness.

Deep orange. Fills the air with the scent of bacon and smoked ham, smoky to the point it burns somewhat. Fortunately, I like smoke.

12 oz bottle. Thanks to Alexsdad06!! Pours a clear medium to light amber with copper highlights and an initially massive off white head but fades to a film. Aroma is beechwood smoked malts, campfire, tons of smoked ham and a nice malty sweetness. Sweet malt flavor is cut by the smooth smoke and mild bitterness- tons of smoked fish- cold smoke and cured meats. Awesome long smokey finish and smooth. Great smoked beer. Who would have thought a braziallian brewery could do this? Now Im excited to try thier other german styles. Thanks again Brad.

Bottle: Clear copper, huge off-white foamy head, fairly nice lacing, moderate carbonation.   Smoked nose, campfire, some charred wood and ash.   Also seems perhaps a bit sweet.   Has a smoked fish tinge to it, or even smoked meat.   First thing I notice, other than the wonderful smoke flavor is that it is fairly sweet with a nice viscous mouthfeel.   Very clean, not astringent, nor is there any hint of ashtray.   The last few beers from this brewery have been fantastic.   Its like a damn German left for Brazil and brought all their secrets.   Great combination of smoke and sweet malts.   Coming from me this is quite a compliment because I am not a big fan of smoked beers.   However, this one is just so smooth and clean its hard not to like it.   Very much recommended for those who aren’t too big into Smoked Beers but wish to try something in the style.

Mmm. Feels like a marzen as the base beer. Deep ruddy coppy color, moderate head. Big initial smoke aroma with layers of heavy melanoidiny malts beneath. Notes of dark heavy breads and orange cake. Flavor quite similar, slick with a caramelized heavy sweetness and a smoky bite throughout. Lingering sweetness is almost cloying but not quite. Very well done!
