| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 11, 2007 A very toasty, slightly tart aroma that just keeps same one same one in mouth. Hints at roastiness with powdery chocolate manage to eventually climb in, but little fruitiness enhances it and we’re stuck with lots of stale bread flavours that culminate into a very quick finish, thanks to the rather agressively carbonated palate. Middle of the road to me, but I would not mind having again. CaptainCougar (5530), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 21, 2007 Pours a dark mahogany amber with a thin ring of light tan head. Aroma of toasty, earthy dark caramel malt with nice German lager yeast and mild noble hops. Body starts with nice, mild dark caramel sweetness and smooth, balanced, lightly earthy finish. Very true to style and drinkable. MartinT (5073), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 12, 2007 My Bottom Line:
Toasted bread and accompanying roastiness dwell in a wet, sly body, where earth-covered mushrooms slowly grow. Although there’s nothing special in its expression, this Dunkel is still a drinkable example of the style.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-There was barely a ring of foam around the brownish black.
-The mouthfeel is rather flat and frail, which is disappointing.
-Some wooden dryness accentuates the roast’s presence/bitterness in the finish.
-Caramel is found, supporting but not developing.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 6, 2007 As soon as the modest beige head reduced to a ring, this has the look of a glass of Coke. The sweetness of the aroma almost drove me away, dark chocolate covered caramel with a quietly roasty background. Fortunately the roasted malt increased in the flavor and a dash of earthy bitterness was added. This worked to counter the caramel & chocolate sweetness, balancing the drink nicely.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 9, 2007 Brown color, with a hint of red. Diminishing light mocha colored head. Light coffee, milk chocolate and a touch of toasted malt and ash trays in the aroma. Flavors have a lightly sugared pale malt sweetness. Light dark cocoa, charcoal and dry floral hops. This does seem to need a pairing with food. Smoked foods and heavier cheeses would seem to go well. Somewhat of a bore by itself. Tmoney99 (4790), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 25, 2007 Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured dark brown with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly diminished with fair lacing. Medium roasted dark chocolate malty aroma. Medium bodywith a smooth texture. Medium dark roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of average duration. maeib (4766), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
