Bottle. Black beer with a light head. The aroma is lightly yeasty and the flavour is roasted, quite watery and bitter/burn’t. Overall an average beer.

Looked alright in the glass even smelled ok. Dark brown body with a light tan head. Some chocolate in the nose also some roasted notes. Smooth taste, mainly malts, caramel even vague hints of smoke, better than some of the other Eisenbahns I have tried.

18-Apr-07 (12 oz bottle, Batch 35: Purchased 14-Mar-07 for $2.11 from www.liquidsolutions.biz) Not all that impressive to look at, the dark brown beer pours with a small, fizzy, light-tan head, but that disappears within seconds. The mildly aromatic nose offers chocolaty, lightly roasty malts with a hint of sourness in characteristically clean lager fashion. Whatever this beer may lack in appearance and aroma, the flavor does its best to make up the difference. Prominent, lightly sweet chocolate is accompanied by a pleasant nuttiness and a gentle hop bitterness, finishing with a touch of roast. But because toffee becomes more apparent in both the flavor and nose as the beer warms up, I think this beer is best served well-chilled to truly enjoy the chocolaty goodness. Medium in body and carbonation. While my overall impression is one of only mild enthusiasm, it’s definitely another tasty beer from this Brazilian brewery.

pours a clear dark brown with purple highlights and a small beige head. aroma of coffee and toast. flavors is heavy on the coffee and roasted notes with some chocolate. almost stout-like with the coffee. dry finish. light-medium bodied. lacks the creaminess of a great dunkel with a bit too much coffee.

12 oz bottle

This was a find on my first stop to River Bend Wines near King’s Island. I figured that it could be interesting; if nothing else it is a new country to explore. Based on this I may try to find the Eisenbahn Lust. It wasn’t the best dunkel but coming from Brazil my expectations weren’t that high anyways.

Aroma / Appearance - The short lived head decorated a fluid dark brown liquid. Rye bread, chocolate and wheat composed a passable dunkel without being outstanding.

Flavor / Palate - The carbonated black raspberry taste was a bit underwhelming. Rye toast and malty fruits provide a little more depth before the flat soda finish. Overall it was decent and acceptable but nothing special.

Batch #17. 12oz, twist-off, amber colored bottle. Dark brown label. Nice dark brown color, egg-shell colored bubbly head. Aroma is heavy deep toast, huge roast, macadamia nuts. Two words, Smokey caramel. Flavor has lots of smoked roast. smoked pork roasted on banana leaves. Lots of grainy malt character, some chocolate in the finish, pine hop. Fermented Malta.
