Flavors of grain, caramel and malts. Has the charcateristic German lager flavor, nicely done like all the beers I had from this brewery. This beer works well with Mexican dishes I might add. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 6, 2007 Bottle. Nutty, toasted aroma drenched in doppelbockish malt - superb! Touch of earthy funk from the hops. Coke-colored pour with an ephemeral tanned head - gone in 8-10 seconds. Crisp medium-full body, medium bitterness with a splash of alcohol and, surprisingly, actual Coke-ish notes (Jack and Coke, really). The wonderful nutty and toasty notes of the prelude are, however, absent in the show and reserved for the dry aftertaste. Sideways notes of brown sugar and grape. Touch of chocolate, but takes a few ounces to notice it. Well-rounded, though somewhat non-German Dunkel. zebracakes (1215), Washington DC, USA
