The flavor is roasted malt that is a bit smoky, with some toffe and raisin. BeerBunker (594), Burbank, Illinois, USA Apr 25, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a small ring of tan lacing. Aroma is of malt, chocolate, smoke, and caramel. Taste is of very lightly toasted malt, sweet chocolate, a hint of smoke, and the slightest bit of caramel. Body is very light and has decent carbonation. Mouthfeel is fizzy, but slightly watery. It’s very drinkable, but the characters are all very subdued if not nonexistent. I’m on the fence with this one. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Mar 29, 2009 Bottle (12oz). Very deep ruby pour, average frothy off-white head. Dry leafy aroma, generic roast, a hint of peat and cocoa. Tastes like a nice light mild - no alcohol, roast coffee bean and cocoa, dry bitterness to even it out. Average body, silky, somewaht still, dry roasty finish. I like it - sessionable. BillKismet (1894), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 14, 2009 Full brown body with a decent, actively carbonated head. Moderate dusty roast chocolate mingles with malt in the nose. Moderate roast body, with some bitter chocolate notes on the finish and a touch of burnt chocolate. Medium mouthfeel and medium malt. Brief appearance of caramel raisin at the end. Perhaps some nuttiness. A rather middle of the road dunkel.
