Commercial Description:
Eisenbahn’s South American Pale Ale is well-balanced, with sweet wholesome malt, and earthy complexity, and a uniquely spicy aroma that results from a special, and secret, blend of Old and New World hops.

Batch 20. I love Eisenbahn, so I had to give this one a try. The first thing I notice is the pour. There is just a slight, slight tint of green. This ultimately gives what should be a decent amber colored beer and odd overall hue. Bummer. Head is decent, but leaves no lacing. The smell? This has definitely got some DMS going - cooked corn right here. Huge disappointment. On top of that, I think there may be some diacetyl as well. The taste? I sure hope this is better than the look and aroma! Well....no, it is definitely not. A basic pale ale with some off flavors similar to the DMS smelled in the nose. This is one-dimensional and too flawed to drink much of. A slight odd astringency - possibly from the hops - also brings this beer down. Just a bad beer from start to finish. In fact, I think this may very well taste worse than it smells. Ugh. Thumbs down. I could go on about the mouthfeel and drinkability...but what’s the point. This beer is not good, so I could care less about those two. Not recommended. That smoked lager they do? Put your money there.

Semi hazy amber with a thin white dissipating head. Aroma of sweet malt, earthy hops and corn. Taste is strange and is woodsy, malty and corny. APA my ass. Astringent body with a corny aftertaste.

Light golden color with off-white head. Lightly toasted malt and dry grass aromas. Hints of sweet citrus. Nothing too exciting. Dry honey and rye flavors. Floor malt tastes with a mild honey linger. A boring pale ale in my book. Hints of things here and there, just nothing that shines through.

Pours clear honey amber w/ thin eggshell white head. Spicy slightly metallic hoppy aroma as if it were a pilsner. Heavily grainy flavor, esp retronasal. Touch of malt sweetness. Good, not amazing. Interesting.

12oz bottle. Nose has some mild floral ginger notes, Belgian-style yeast esters present along with some some sweet honey. Fairly banal flavor, some mildly sweet honey malts, some creaminess to the texture, a mild candy sugar note as well. Simple, sweet, lightly hoppy. Forgettable but very easily drinkable.
