aroma is dark and malty with wheat and cereal notes. bottle conditioned. lots of caramel and toffee. but it seems to lack the citrus and banana I would expect. I like this style and this is a nice example.

New bottle design. Pours with an off-white frothy head covering a hazy brown body. Aroma of banana, wheat, vanilla, and caramel. Taste is wheat with light coffee malts, light over-rippened banana, and a whole boat load over other malts. Slightly metallicy finish. Watery mouthfeel, small bubbles.

From bottle. Malty with caramel, molasses, and rich undertones typical of a German style Doppelbock. A bit of cardboard or cooked corn in there, but a decent sweet profile. Light hops but neutral. Dark caramel brown clear, with a thin off-white head. Medium-heavy watery body, with fairly vigorous carbonation. Starts sweet, with lots of caramel and rich malty sugar, some oxidation flavors and a bit of neutral fruit. Sugary sweet throughout, with a sweet finish and after. Very little bitterness going on here, though it’s not a cloying beer. A bit of alcohol sweetness, and reminds me of some fortified European strong lagers in that regard. OK, but couldn’t have more than one in an evening.

Paired nicely with my dry rubbed pork chop. Pours a murky brown color. Get a faint yeast and spice aroma. Texture is well carbonated. Caramel and chocolate malt upfront that yields to a bit of a fruity banana flavor. Finish has a tinge of bitterness.

Nice dark amber color with an off-white head that retains well. Smell is very rich of caramel, various spices, dark fruit, and some clove. Burnt sugar and dark caramel sweetness greet the tongue, followed by perfect amount of spiciness (not spicy as in chili spicy, mind you), with a lingering sweet caramel finish with just a touch of banana. Carbonation is on the higher side, but not overpowering, it’s just the right amount. Body is full, chewy, but not cloying; no discernable alcohol coming through. Truly an exceptional beer, I’m glad I decided to try it. I will be buying more of this and will be trying some of their other products.

Appearance: Pours a clear, lightly effervescent, brown body with a small, ivory-colored head. Smell: Toasted wheat nose with notes of dark fruit, banana, clove, and a small hint of chocolate. Picks up alot of apple upon warming. Taste: Toasty wheat malt flavor with a medium candied sweetness. Restrained banana and clove components. Light touch of chocolate. Mild, spicy hops with an equally mild bitterness. Slight underlying yeastiness. As with the aroma, it gets increasingly apple-y. Sweetish finish overall with a little kick of alcohol. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Slight chalky mouthfeel. Drinkability: A fairly tasty weizenbock with a keen drinkability.

Bottled, thanks Crosling! Hazy reddish amber, small creamy head. Estery raspberry aroma. Medium bodied and lightly caramelly. Mildly warming with toffee and berries. Great stuff! Possibly the most well balanced weizenbock I’ve tasted from America.

Bottle purchased at D’s Six Pax. Pours hazy caramel, thin off white head. Aroma is tangy, malty, and chewy. Flavor is chewy with some banana. Lots of malt, some faint smokiness. Overall not too bad but I don’t care for the banana/yeasty element.
