Vertical Bacon Strips (581), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 20, 2009 This stuff rules! I assumed that it would be total crap...I didn’t even know it was 11% until half way through the glass when I was checking out the labels details. Scocker! ....... Poured out a slight off white head, one finger thick that quickly vanished. Only beer remained in my glass and it was a deep deep amber with a bunch of slow rising very large bubbles that stick in place at the top of the viscous brew. The top of the beer almost resembles one that was made of plastic with a bad casting leaving large encased bubbles. The aroma and taste are very similar and both are suprisingly good. 11%? Where? Warm, sweet caramel malts, cognac, sherry, cherry... one of the more interesting brews I’ve had in a long time. You know the alcohol is there but it isn’t all that noticable as it is blended in well - way better than most other strong Euro’s. Thick and syrupy, there is some alcohol bite after all noticable mostly on the aftertaste which is mainly a lingering fruity malt that covers the whole mouth. Highly recommended. WinoInTraining (95), Longmont, Colorado, USA Jun 19, 2009 Hides the 11% well, sweet and malty. Interesting linger, not horrible but yet again, German beer is not great. DigitalMan (82), Idaho, USA Jun 17, 2009 Head starts nice then disappears. Beautiful orange brown. Sweet aroma. Very sweet flavor with a mountain of alcohol. Not tasting much else. mar (1395), Dallas, Texas, USA May 31, 2009 Bottle thanks to my brother. Amber with no head. Nose is fruity with notes of sherry and raisins. Thick like syrup and the sherry flavor really shines with a very smooth balance between the malts. 184601 (135), Mexicali, Mexico May 22, 2009 Some plumberish and citrics notes, very hard flavor, meduim body, reddish body and and beige to tan head, very alcoholic palate, good dose of carbonation , somewhat sweet, but not my kind i know its all-right but wont sip this one again i think, too freaking strong, pours reflecting as a goddamn brandy dude it kind of burns like a goddamn whiskey!!! NJJereme (173), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA May 16, 2009 11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a nice amber color w/ a light white head. Smells heavily of caramel and hard alcohol. Light to medium bodied, goes down like hard alcohol, burning sensation in esophagus. Interesting brew. noncaloric (461), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 5, 2009 Clear medium amber, thin off-white head, good retention but not much lace. Aroma of light caramel and alcohol, quickly fading. Flavor has a lot of simple sweetness and alcohol in it, but not much other character. A bit of medicinal bitterness on the finish. Potent alcohol warming, definite syrupy heft to the beer. decaturstevo (1757), decatur, Tennessee, USA May 4, 2009 Deep copper pour with a tiny white head and lace. A deep brown sugar aroma dominated for me. Brown sugar on the flavor followed by a very light smooth finishing bitter. A bit foamy medium bodied beer.
