Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA Sep 9, 2008 Bottle, from Noel Cuveliers, Abele. Warm tangerine colored pour, a bit of off-white head that settles away almost immediately. Deep rummy raisin aroma, viney, spicy port, deep caramel sweetness. Chewy caramel sweetness up front, a pleasant earthly quality, bright carbonation that gives the impression of dryness to the finish. Very well constructed, and understated for its strength. Nice beer. JuStuka (187), Edo De Mex, Mexico Sep 2, 2008 A strong beer, smells like caramel and malt, sweet malty flavour with lots of caramel with a strong alcohol finish. lghansen (25), Denmark Aug 24, 2008 I drank this w/o reading the label first so I was shocked by the first sip of alcohol sweetness, but in the end it wasn’t bad, much like a barley wine. ShawnMalloy (119), Auburn, Massachusetts, USA Aug 23, 2008 Pours a copper color. Smellls malty and caramelly. Taste is semi sweet with a very boozy overtone. I need some pretzels. ffcpa2 (8), Phoenix, Arizona, USA does not count Aug 16, 2008 It’s a really good beer but I prefer something dryer and maltier. EKU 28 is so rich it would be hard to drink for more than a quarter of football. I prefer a solid beer that is less sugary sweet.
jeremytoni (1069), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Aug 13, 2008 From a bottle poured a brown/amber color with a good amount of head. Flavor sweet malty, with a lingering finish. rayOfBeer (316), El Cerrito, California, USA Aug 11, 2008 Poured from bottle an orange-amber with medium sized off-white head that fades quickly and completely leaving no laces. Aroma is malty with a caramel sweetness and a hint of alcohol vapor that becomes more pronounced as the beer warms. The flavor has a honey sweetness, caramel, hints of orangey citrus and an big alcohol warmth. Good carbonation adds a nice acidic tingle on the tongue which helps keep this beer from seeming cloyingly sweet. I thought this beer was good. It has a smoothness that reminds me of ice wine but there are not many flavors here. I would not drink it often but for a change of pace it’s nice. Ober (1161), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands Jul 28, 2008 A dark amber colored beer, with a beige head. This disappears very quckly. The aroma is very malty, caramel and sirup sweet. The taste is very sweet as well, from caramel and sirup. It’s sticky. It’s warming because of the alcohol. This is not my favourite beer.
