Smells like Malt and sugar. This beer has a nice underlying sweetness that masks it’s 11%abv quite well. A very pleasant Eisbock indeed. :) thewolf (5718), Kolding, Denmark

Pours a wonderful deep orange amber with a fine creamy off white head. Doughy aroma, some rye and alcohol. Oily mouthfeel and good bite. Flavour is sweet and creamy with high sweetness and a bit cloying. Not much balance, but it’s not poor. The alcohol is impressively hidden. unclemattie (2401), Georgia, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 4, 2008 0.33 l bottle from a Merkur in Graz. Well, my first Eisbock, finally something to try my snifter on. Poured very nice orange-red body with medium pale orange head that went down fast with impressive sound. Interestingly, very weak aroma, malty, alcoholic like a whisky with maybe even some plums or similar dark fruits on the threshold of imagination. Flavor let’s say full bodied, bitter in very strange way, muled whiskey and brandy kind of alcoholic, pretty simple, yet it tends to show some new components. I’ve felt also bit of oak, caramel and some spices. In the finish pretty much of the flavor is felt, but with some sweetness rounding it all. Very warming, maybe I should’ve kept it until the weekend and share with friends, when we will sleep on a mountain in tents at about -20°C :) All in all, not bad indeed, but nothing special, so I expect more from my next Eisbock. Definitely not an everyday drink. Theis (3651), Denmark

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jan 26, 2008 Poured from bottle. A very deep red amber color with no head at all. Beautiful fragrance of butterscotch and alcohol. Candy sweet taste with a subtle maltiness. The strong alcohol is fairly well hidden. I would dare to say that this is probably a great brew to have with dessert after a formal dinner. dkachur (2347), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours apple juice colored w/ a thin white head. Aroma is, oddly, scotch whisky. Taste is all kinds of malty, toffee, raisin, caramel, et cetera, et cetera. No hops to speak of. A little on the overly sweet side, but still good.

Strong old wood aroma with fruit notes.
Sweet and deep licorice flavor with wood berries in the palate.
The strong flavor and aroma hide very good the high alcohol.
Great beer for a speech or for an after-meal.
