Flavor of apple, brandy, raisins, and caramel malt. goozen (1061), Leiden, Netherlands Sep 26, 2009 Bottle 0,33ltr: Clear amber coloured brew with warming abbilities. Pretty sweet with some hints of caramel. An classic. alexanderj (2212), Chino Hills, California, USA Sep 20, 2009 Bottle; the world needs more eisbocks. Poured a clear amber color; not much head, but really nice looking. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel, grapes, alcohol and sweet malt. I could see the love/hate on this one, although to me it wasn’t extremely flavorful. However, it was a solid, malty beer. Caramel gives way to a burst of alcohol and dark fruit. A lingering toffee like presence in the finish. Not too much alcohol warming, which was a tad surprising, although the alcohol was always evident. edelbrauer (57), Rügen, Germany Sep 16, 2009 small bottle, dark golden amber, no head really. intense aroma of alcohol mostly syringa, a little clean toffee too. flavor is intense malty on a sweet and rich palate with a short sweet aftertaste, Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Aug 17, 2009 12 oz bottle Market of Choice. Was having a cheap(er) drinking night last night and was intrigued by an 11% bottle that only cost 2.50. Poured out a clear copper color with a very light white head. Aroma full of caramel, toffee, raisins and booze. Flavor was sugar, caramel, toffee, light raisin/fig type fruit and a big booze finish. This one will certainly get the job done and at 11% it’s a great way to get an inexpensive buzz on. Gr0ve (1382), Oslo, Norway Jul 29, 2009 330 ml bottle. Copper colour. Crystal clear. Small off-white head. Caramel aroma with hints of toffee. Feels sweet initially, but the body is relatively light making the beer quite easily drinkable. Oily texture. Hints of honey, white pepper and leather. I guess it is the bitterness that cuts through most of the residual sugars. Nicely balanced, and surprisingly drinkable. DandyWolfFloyd (331), Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 27, 2009 EKU 28 has a sweet smell, with a solid amount of honey, sugary malt, with some dark fruit perhaps some raisins. The appearance is a clean reddish brown copper color, with a white head that quickly dissapates to a tiny ring collar. The flavor has is a minor bit sweet, with the flavor of palm sugar or plums, but not ruling out figs or raisins, not the alcohol I assumed. More like a honey mead, and a little bit brandy flavored. Very smooth, a nice alcohol sting at the finish.
