| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 11, 2007 On tap at Mahars. Poured a cherry red with a great frothy head. Aroma was sweet and caramelly. Flavor was like a nice black forest cake soaked in fine port. oh6gdx (8840), Vasa, Finland
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 5, 2007 Bottled. Deep golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is hoppy, malty and slight alcohol in a very nice balance. Flavour is alcohol, sweet malts and some hops, also in a nice mix. Even though being 11%, the alcohol is not disturbing. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 3, 2007 Bottle. Sweet malty aroma, lots of red berry and fruitiness, molasses, raisin, brown sugar, grape, very ripe. Clear orange body with a creamy beige-tanned head. Taste is overly full (syrupy) and sweet, loads of ripe fruit and malt with a noticeable but not overpowering degree of alcohol. Sweet with no bitter. Aftertaste is a bit sugary (under-attenuated?) and boozy, but but only lightly. Caramel joins the fruit party first hinted at in the nose. Really creamy with a few swishes. Something of an intense Maibock. Reminds me of a tripel recently had, though this seems a bit flawed. A raw dessert beer that, unlike most of the raters here, I’d happily have again. sunevdj (1770), Copenhagen OE, Denmark

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 23, 2007 Had a bottle at the Root Bar in Swannanoa, which has a pretty decent selection of imports available. Poured a deep orange-amber color with a fluffy tan head. The alcohol in this beer is very prominent, which, honestly, was the reason why I chose this beer to begin with, so I was satisfied. Haven’t had too many Eisbocks, but it’s a style I’ll happily imbibe in the future. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 19, 2007 330. Pours a deep ruby amber with a towering off-white sudsy head. I remember flying down to SF and buying some of this beer in 95. We’d been pestering the WSLCB to let SA Triple Bock into the state, to no avail. Some friends suggested I hunt this one down at a more civilized beer store at points south, so I did. Then as now I was unprepared for the syrupy sweetness of this beer. The nose just smacks you around with maple syrup, caramel, butterscotch, white sugar--no shortage of varieties of flavors, but unfortunately they’re all in the same flavor family. I think I’ll always associate this beer with Elf and Will Ferrell’s love of sugar in that movie, because that strikes me as the ideal demographic for this beer. Elves. It’s just too much--the bubbles have to fight to get through the goop; the body’s huge and heavy and the malt syrupy sugary cloy just commands the room every time you take a sip. You can’t think about anything else. Interesting, and I’m glad it’s for sale in the state now, and I’m glad it’s back in my cellar, but this’ll prolly be the last bottle of it at my place for a while. jb (1033), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 16, 2007 Copper colored with a thick head. Very boozy aroma with caramel notes and maltiness. Palate is sticky with dried fruit taste and a bit of bite. Not as much going on as some doppelbocks, thus not one of my faves.
