Caramel aroma with hints of toffee. Feels sweet initially, but the body is relatively light making the beer quite easily drinkable. Oily texture. Hints of honey, white pepper and leather. I guess it is the bitterness that cuts through most of the residual sugars. Nicely balanced, and surprisingly drinkable. DandyWolfFloyd (331), Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 27, 2009 EKU 28 has a sweet smell, with a solid amount of honey, sugary malt, with some dark fruit perhaps some raisins. The appearance is a clean reddish brown copper color, with a white head that quickly dissapates to a tiny ring collar. The flavor has is a minor bit sweet, with the flavor of palm sugar or plums, but not ruling out figs or raisins, not the alcohol I assumed. More like a honey mead, and a little bit brandy flavored. Very smooth, a nice alcohol sting at the finish. kappldav123 (1817), Markkleeberg, Germany
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 18, 2009 The bottle looks good, also the beername is not really the best. Starts very malty, very strong, quite alcoholic. The alcoholic note remains till the finish. Bit earty, fiery-warming finish. Not bad! Nordcore (271), North of, Norway

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 20, 2009 This stuff rules! I assumed that it would be total crap...I didn’t even know it was 11% until half way through the glass when I was checking out the labels details. Scocker! ....... Poured out a slight off white head, one finger thick that quickly vanished. Only beer remained in my glass and it was a deep deep amber with a bunch of slow rising very large bubbles that stick in place at the top of the viscous brew. The top of the beer almost resembles one that was made of plastic with a bad casting leaving large encased bubbles. The aroma and taste are very similar and both are suprisingly good. 11%? Where? Warm, sweet caramel malts, cognac, sherry, cherry... one of the more interesting brews I’ve had in a long time. You know the alcohol is there but it isn’t all that noticable as it is blended in well - way better than most other strong Euro’s. Thick and syrupy, there is some alcohol bite after all noticable mostly on the aftertaste which is mainly a lingering fruity malt that covers the whole mouth. Highly recommended. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 31, 2009 Bottle thanks to my brother. Amber with no head. Nose is fruity with notes of sherry and raisins. Thick like syrup and the sherry flavor really shines with a very smooth balance between the malts.
