steview (901), Los Angeles, California, USA Nov 27, 2006 picked this old bottle up at the local liquor store near my base / sweet, bready, caramel and nuts aroma; deadish appearance, honey-brown color, slightly thickish tan head, decent lacing; sweet, caramel, vinous aftertaste, dulls as it ends; a little sweet, could be cloying, goes down smooth with not much alcohol presence! Bockyhorsey (2485), Mesa, Arizona, USA Nov 26, 2006 Bottle. Aroma of sweetness and alcohol pierce the nose. Caramel aroma also present along with some wet corn aroma in the finish. Dark orange body with not much of a head. Flavor was sweet caramel till middle of beer. A sticky sweet leather flavor appears with some wet corn. Sweet sticky licorice aftertaste on the palate. Need some water for palate rinse. Decent brew. SHIG (2012), Aviano, Italy Nov 22, 2006 Poured a brownish red amber with soft white head. Sweet fruit like aroma with some alcohol tint. Sweet caramel or honey flavor was subsided by an alcohol burnt malt flavor. thornecb (1734), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Nov 21, 2006 Pours a bright ruby red into a snifter. Ten micro head leaves no lacing -- in fact, it tears. Tangy alcohol aromas. Sticky, sweet honey but almost crisp with a medium lasting hop to alcohol burn back to honey finish. Great apertif -- 11.2 oz could probably be shared. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Nov 19, 2006 12 OZ bottle via LIQUID sOLUTIONS. Pours a crystal clear amber with a large beige head. Aroma is very mellow with mostly just vanilla and toffee and perhaps some fruity melon. Wow this is sweet tasting...cloying...starts with a LOT of molasses, then some cherries, vanilla, raisins, and ends about as sweet as it started. Thin bodied. Some rummy alcohol present in the finish.Moderate to high carbonation. Not bad but would be better with more body and if it was not filtered. OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Nov 18, 2006 Bottle, best before 22/01/07, shared by Brewnoser. Golden orange amber colour with a diminishing off-white head. Orange, citrus, and toffee aroma. Molasses, toffee, orange peel, nutty, and leafy flavours. Medium to full bodied, chewy mouthfeel. Surprised to see this is an Eisbock, and surprised to see it rated this low. raphael (410), Portland, Oregon, USA Nov 18, 2006 some quick bitterness soon joined by alcohol, oats, honey & fruitwood smoke. almost orange in its amberness. just slightly thick, quickly warming down the throat. that sharply sweet edge you get with the stronger beers, with some honey, vanilla, almost peppery. on sale for less than $2 I should have bought several. pubbe (493), Højbjerg, Denmark Nov 14, 2006 Draught at Horsens Beerfestival. Aroma dominated by alcohol. More glycerin in the flavor suplemented with some residual sugar and a little bitterness. Average finish with more sugar, hops and alcohol.
