SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Nov 14, 2006 another wish lister crossed off!! always wanted to try a eisbock....no real head..no lace...this is meant to get tipsy off of...sweet ,bold, mean, and german. quite flavourful considering...lots of aroma morsels; sweet honey, pale, alco, port, cherry, sugar, that smell you get after you get hit in the face with a soccer ball,sherry... bought at the bierkonig in amsterdam HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Nov 12, 2006 Bottle (330ml) - best before 21-10-07. Via trade with Biegaman - thanks once again, Jan. Beautiful clear bronze pour with a decent frothy-creamy lasting beige head. Woody sweet toasted malt aroma, light bitter herbal hops, mulchy yeast, developed a strong peach-pit fruit character as it warmed, lovely character, hardly any alcohol noticed. Taste is very fruity - peach, apricot and pineapple - woody, resiny malt with more alcohol and less hop bitterness in the finish than the aroma would indicate - not 11% boozy, but you know it’s there. Slightly thin body, with a slick, astringent, alcoholic mouthfeel and a medium-long mild linger, decent complexity, you can tell this is not a particularly young beer - I like that! Compares quite favorably to Kulmbacher’s other Eisbock. petermadsen (391), Vesterbronxxx, Denmark Nov 12, 2006 This is a real treat when it comes to strong lagers. Sweet and complex maltiness with just eneugh bitternes to make it work. the alcohol does not hide it self and if it did it could have fatal consequenses. At least for me... jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 11, 2006 Bottle dated best before 2007, estimated at about 5 or 6 years old, courtesy of Brewnoser. Dark amber body with a small beige head that fades. Sweet caramel aroma, sugars and caramel malt. Sweet caramel malt flavour is lovely with a dry not in the finish. Average palate is smooth. (3+) Quite nice, this had stood up marvelously if its that old! Many thanks for the chance to try this, it was quite pleasant. Amazed that this is rated so low. Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Nov 4, 2006 Surprised I hadn’t rated this one yet, as it is a beer I return to from time to time as a palate check. How much I enjoyed it this time around is definitely reflective of my constantly evolving tastes for beer. It tasted like I remembered, except the cloying sweetness of my memory has changed into a rich maltiness. Medium amber, slight head fades immediately. Aroma a strong shot of caramel and sherry. Flavor matches, caramel, a touch of molasses smokiness, faint sherry notes apparent in the alcohol, and a bit flour that reminds me of the smell of homemade play-do and a project I did once in elementary school of a vinegar volcano. But no vinegar notes. I digress. Enjoyable. POD (198), USA Nov 2, 2006 Man Law: For real men only. This one poured like honey from the bottle. Beautiful golden hue topped with a dark cream colored head. Pungent sweet sorghum-like aromas similar to a fine licquer greeted my nose. The mouthfeel was full bodied and thick. The flavor was aromatic honey, malt to the extent that it tasted almost like a brandy. The 11% ABV was very noticable and lingered for a long time during the aftertaste! This is a sipper for sure! zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Oct 29, 2006 Bottle. Pours clear orange, thin off white head. Aroma is grass and candied. Flavor is grass, alcohol, candy, wheat. saxo (3511), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark Oct 28, 2006 Bottle. Small head with short duration. Color is amber. Aroma is rich with malts and hops. Taste is sweet and malty with a good finish.
