Commercial Description:
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

A nice reddish orange and crystal clear. The bottle I poured had almost no head. I expected a lot more flavor with a beer this strong. It is very one-dimensional with a watery caramel flavor being the only one present.

Amber coloured, small off white head. Sweet yeasty aroma, light madeira touch, little dough. Medium body, sweet alcoholic with some carbonation and light roasted. Finish is in the beginning quiet flat, but than, a haevy trouht-warming alcoholic ending, somewhat sweet-bitter.Heavy, strange but nice.

Bottle. Pours a redish brown color with a nice big white head (which fades quickly) that leaves nice glass lacing. Aroma is malty, watery, some notes of raisins and dried rapberries. Flavor is very sweet like candied fruits and whiskey. Mouthfeel is very sticky and has just the right amount of tingle. Alcohol is very well hidden. A tasty beer. I really liked this one. I wonder how why it’s rated so low.

Dark amber with a short lived, bubbly head. Aroma of malt, dried fruits, sherry, alcohol. Sweet flavour with only a bit of balancing bitterness at the end, and plenty of alcohol showing through. Fresh beer rating: 2.7 Re-rate: A 15 years old bottle was much more pleasant. The sherry now completely dominated the aroma, and the flavour was more harmonic. Cellared rating: 3.1

Pours a deep reddish amber with a fully receding tan head. Aroma of rich caramel, toffee, vinous malt, plums, and alcohol. Taste is sweet and sticky with a tinge of spicy alcohol on the nose. Notes of toffee, earthy malts, wood, and phenols. Mouthfeel is heavy with lively carbonation. Good, but not as enjoyable as the Aventinus Eisbock. A bit too sweet and one-dimensional.

Pours a clear amber from the bottle. No head or lacing. Aroma is very malty with a hint of hops. Flavor is molasses and malt. There is a full body with some carbonation and an alcohol burn. Very warming. Some hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Very nice. I was surprised at the full body given its clarity.

nose of bread and caramel syrup. some warming in the nostrils. Dark red-copper appearence. Quite bubbly with a small head. The notes of fruit (plum, mango) open up in a glass. Oooo sweet.... literally sweet. Loads of sugar and alcoholic caramel syrup to match the aroma. I can appreciate it this but I don’t think I like it. Nice to try though...
