noelcb (271), Toledo, Ohio, USA Jan 1, 2006 My first eisbok -- very much like a barleywine. Poured dark transparent red-brown, little head. Aromas of sweet malt, toffee, molasses, yeast, chocolate and alcohol. Flavor was intense sweet, toasty malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee, port wine, toffee, dark fruit and yeast. Not much hop flavor, but good bitterness in the background. Nice smooth finish. Mouthfeel was thick and chewy. Excellent. museofky (15), Lexington, Kentucky, USA Dec 30, 2005 One of my favorite beers. Amber color, small head, sweet but not overwhelmingly so. I thought it was very easy to drink, and had to invite some friends over to check this one out! ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Dec 22, 2005 Amber colour with a small off white head. Fairly sweet aroma with notes of sugar and alcohol. Sweet nutty flavor with a warming alcohol finish. shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Dec 19, 2005 Amber color with no head. Aroma is sticky sweet and sugary, with some alcohol. Flavor is well blended. Sweet almost cloying (despite the description) and smooth. Palate is really nice. Clean finish with just a hint of the alcohol presence. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Dec 7, 2005 330ml bottle, deep copper colour with no head. Very sweet aroma. Some nutty aromas. Just too madly sweet for me and I like mead!!! Had to pour this away JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Dec 2, 2005 Updated: Feb 24, 2007This is a pleasant beer. Light red color with a head that only lasts for seconds. Light aroma with carmel and some malt. Flavor has a little alcohol, more carmel, and the standard bock flavor of malt. Very smooth and easy to drink. The alcohol is hidden well. A low key beer that doesn’t hit hard in any way but is great for slow sipping. chilehead (186), Laguna Niguel, California, USA Nov 30, 2005 Quite good. Malty with nice complexity, medium body. Alcohol was present, but definitely not forward. Would like to have this again. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 24, 2005 Strong alcohol, cherries, marzipan and berries in the aroma. Clear, burnished copper coloured body with a low, off white head that recedes to ring. Alcohol and vinous dark fruits in the flavour. Very hot. Medium body with prickly, intense carbonation. Bottle sampled at D.B.A. in NYC with Olivier MTL and Rastacouere.
