yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Nov 24, 2005 Bottled at Fynske Øldage, Odense, Denmark. Quite flat, dark golden, with an off-white head. Aroma is mostly malty sweetness and alcohol. Warming, sweet malty flavor. Full bodied. (051029) Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Nov 22, 2005 From a snifter. Pours a lovely clear red color with a small head and absolutely no lacing. Aroma is of cherry, plum, apple, copper, and lots of alcohol. Extremely sweet and fruity flavor carries on with the aforementioned fruits. Alcohol presence is ridiculously high and the sweet syrupyness is a little over the top for me. This is only the third Eisbock I’ve tried and it is easily my least favorite. tmad (93), Dayton, Ohio, USA Nov 17, 2005 Updated: Dec 14, 2005An intense malt taste that is exceptionally sweet, the color is an orange influenced amber with a medium dirty white head. The alcohol level is insanely high, this percentage of alcohol is well apparent. I am not used to this type of beer, too sweet for my preference. I just drank 1 and feels like I had at least 2, thanks to the alcohol content. Garrat (1132), Suffolk, England Nov 13, 2005 From A Bottle.Dark amber in colour with no head, aroma is of alcohol and honey, taste is of toffee, brown sugar and alcohol. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA Oct 27, 2005 Bottle at Firkin’s, Libertyville, IL. Clear amber hued having a rapidly diminishing large off-white head with excellent lacing. Heady sweet malt aroma with hints of toffee and fruits. Full-bodied with heavy consistency of maple syrup. Starts with smooth creamy malt flavor with slight hop and finishes thickly with slight cloying sweet flavor with some hop touches. Definite alcoholic warmth. A tasty drinkable eisbock beer that’s best enjoyed without food. Fulkrum78 (165), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 27, 2005 Overall, not a bad beer. I tried The Ayinger the night before though and this one isn’t in the same class. Nice head, with decent lacing that faded quickly. Overall, I’d drink it again if it was available but not something I would go out of my way for. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 22, 2005 Poured a light amber pink clear color with lots and lots of bubbles and a small amount of white head. Looks to me like a glass of raspberry 7up. Aroma is very fruity, kinda a mix of raspberry and pears and some burbony alcohol undertones. Flavor is very acidicy and fruity with a whole bunch of alcohol punch. Almost tastes like cough medicine in a weird way. Brings back bad childhood nyquil memories. Overall, started decent, but couldnt get past nyquil stuff. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 20, 2005 Bottle. Clear medium amber pour with just a hint of red to it. Thin layer of beige head. Strong aroma of freshly cut wheat, pears, plums, toffee, and a hint of brandy. First impression in the mouth is heavy, malty, boozy sweetness. More big hits of dark fruit and alcohol followed. This became thicker and more cloying as it wamed. Not the most complex brew, but was definitely palatable and warming.
