Commercial Description:
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Bottle shared with Bret. Murky amber color with a small head. Awesome malty aroma. Taste is sweet, yet dry with some dried fruits. Slightly smokey and really drinkable.

Bottle. Roasty, malty, burnt caramel aroma with hints of vanilla, marzipan and slight alcohol. Clear amber/brown color with a thick tan head that lasted quite a while. Raisiny, malty, slightly sweet with some alcohol in flavor. Hop bitterness became apparent in aftertaste but was overshadowed up front. Effervescent with fine carbonation. Full bodied, almost chewy but not cloying. Medium finish with some alcohol apparent in aftertase along with bitterness and some sweetness. Big and complex but very well executed and well balanced.

Wow, this certainly needs a year or two in the bottle. I was just blown away. very syrupy, port like, and very strong. The 11 % doesn’t hide itself here. Almost like turning the termostat up as you drink it. The hops are very sharp and distance themselves from the malt. I really don’t believe that it’s cloying or oversweet. It really reminds me of Samiclaus, and at a fraction of the price. I think that with a year of cellaring you have yourself a wonderful night cap in the dead of winter.

Medium brown with an off white head. Aroma of sweet apples and banana. Flavor of banana, bubblegum, cotton candy a bit too sweet and cloying and too syrupy.

An old favorite--from the days before I knew anything about beer. This stuff has the consistency of 10-W-40. It is badly overhopped, but some decent brandy flavors manage to emerge. Must be drunk very cold--and this lacks the finesse of the Belgians of similar strength (Kasteel, Bush, etc)

12 oz bottle. Bright copper in color; crystal clear with no head retention. Slight legs. Aroma is rich in sweet malt and pleasantly alcoholic. Taste is similar and very warming as it goes down. This product pretty well follows BJCP guidelines, but I’m simply not a fan of Eisbocks.
