This stuff has the consistency of 10-W-40. It is badly overhopped, but some decent brandy flavors manage to emerge.
Must be drunk very cold--and this lacks the finesse of the Belgians of similar strength (Kasteel, Bush, etc) tomhenderson (126), Carolinas area, USA

Aroma is rich in sweet malt and pleasantly alcoholic. Taste is similar and very warming as it goes down. This product pretty well follows BJCP guidelines, but I’m simply not a fan of Eisbocks. carlitos99 (184), The Big Apple, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 16, 2005 According to Michael Jackson, this beer has just the right bit of sweetness, kind of like another Michael Jackson. Hey now! What I was trying to say is this beer is way too sweet and it taste like that no-name berry soda you buy at the supermarket for 35 cents but with 11% alcohol! Stay away. | 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/20 | Mar 15, 2005 Bartender warned me about this beer but tried it anyway. To me this taste like a pound of sugar inside a 12oz bottle, and for the most part I like the sweeter beers. This was just way too much though. sayravai (3729), Helsinki, Finland
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 13, 2005 (Bottled) Clear amber color with no head. Moderately alcoholic boysenberry aroma. Very malty, sweetish flavor with hints of alcohol. Quite full-bodied and sticky-sugary with low but fizzy carbonation. It’s nice to see how the ridiculously high gravity almost completely kills the ABV, leaving a full and warming feel. Not as sophisticated as the Urbock 23, but "the right stuff", anyway. desurfer (1067), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 28, 2005 Pours a clear caramel amber with no head. Aroma is super alcoholic, very sweet. Flavor isn’t as alcoholic as the aroma made me guess; there is little carbonation, and it’s mostly caramel sweetness that takes over. Rather one-dimensional. rgrep (150), Wellington, New Zealand
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 17, 2005 Very fizzy in the pour but sits almost entirely flat with no head or lacing. Aroma is sweet and malty but a bit off with notes of marmite, apple cider vinegar and cabbage. The body isn’t much better - warming alcohol with vegetables. mdi (573), Nebraska, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 10, 2005 33cl bottle coded 13603544. Pours w/ no head, practicaly flat. first smell to hit me is something like cabbage in alcohol...as it sits maybe it takes on something a little less disturbing, but I still don’t like the aroma...I’m really trying to like this too, but it just isn’t helping itself. Sweet, flat, alcoholic vegetables is how it strikes me. Maybe an of bottle, but not really my style anyhow, so I don’t see a need to revisit this one. The dog sure loved it, though.
