MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA Jan 21, 2005 Bottle. I have always liked this one, but it is not for everyone. This is a malt monster by every definition, although Samiclaus and Urbock 23 I think are superior. Golden and clear, with not much of a head. Massive malt aroma, with vanilla, a touch of alcohol, and various candies. Big malty, malt-wine flavor. No bitterness, just malt. Slight alcohol bite. Nice fire-sipping cold night brew. tomxcs (315), Golden, Colorado, USA Jan 17, 2005 Has the appearance of a rosé or something like a mix of cranberry & white grape juice; essentially no head & little carbonation but interesting look. Aroma is heavy malt with an alcohol sting. Taste is heavy malt as well; sticky sweet and alcoholic. Strong, warming alcohol palate. Good, but I found myself paying too much attention to the alcohol presence while drinking it. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Jan 2, 2005 Updated: Nov 19, 2006Re-rate. 4 year old bottle. Pours candy apple red with an initial white head that quickly dissipates.Smell is of sweet cherries, sugar, some metallic elemenst and mellow alcohol. Taste is of some sweet sugar and malt with warming alchol. Not nearly as cloying as a fresh sample. Finish is light and sweet. The alcohol in this is well masked. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA Jan 2, 2005 Bottle - thanks to BeerCellar2 for the trade. Pours clear amber orange with no head. Aroma is sweet, burnt candy sweet, toasted powder sugar sweet with mixed floral and wood notes. Flavor is also sweet with lots of alcohol evident, somewhat burning - like a liquier and contrary to their commercial description, somewhat cloying. Full bodied and no carbonation. Definitely a unique brew, but not my favorite style. Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA Dec 27, 2004 poured into a snifter, the eku gave off alot of the same characteristics of a young crand cru.sweet aroma and flavor, with hints of raisins, caramel, and malts.not bad at all. kosh (20), Georgia, USA Dec 26, 2004 My lord what an understood brew! Sit back, take a sip, think. reflect, enjoy...! this is a qualiy brew folks! A rare, and potent brew. Malty and slightly sweet, then liqueur on the finish but not to much! think style folks...this beer fits the style. Wonderful!
Kulmbacher eisbock is sweet, then liqueur on the finish. Wonderful!
Panzuriel (992), Westerville, Ohio, USA Dec 6, 2004 Clear copper liquid with almost no head. Aroma is sweet and a hint of malt with a evident Alcohol aspect. Taste is sweet with some intersting side notes of grape juice. Body is thick and pretty syrupy. Finish is pretty clean. Alcohol content warms all the way down. Dorqui (1353), Brescia, Italy Nov 21, 2004 Terrible, flavor sweetest, of swit. Without fizzy, extinguished. It seems syrup. To avoid.
