maeib (4677), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Nov 17, 2004 Bottled. The beer pours a vibrant orange Lucozade colour with no head whatsoever. The aroma is a bit eggy and sulphuric with a bit of toffee and lots of alcohol. The taste is creamy. thick and gloopy alcohol with a bit of cod liver oil mixed in. It is sweet and a bit cloying but still fun to drink! gustytke (8), New Orleans, Louisiana, USA does not count Nov 14, 2004 Amber color, with a head that fades immediately upon pour. When you smell this beer, you know it has a punch. Very sweet and very alcohol nose. Most comparable to Samiclaus. Thick and very sweet on entry. You have to chew your way through this beer. Very complex fruit notes, with some woody hints. Pretty amazing this is 11%, but you can still tell it is high. A real warmer. Good if you are in the mood for something very strong. Aubrey (2773), Denver, Colorado, USA Nov 9, 2004 Mostly clear and deep amber with a frothy, but fading, beige head. Sweet, fruity nose. Thick and syrupy malts followed by a mild carbonation. Finishes curiously dry. Quite a few flavors and aromas; some were odd, but nothing was too off-putting. Notes of raisins, pear, apples, plums and figs. Lesser notes of wood and sherry. Alcohol is masked well; just a little warmth in the throat, for the most part. Cozy beer. Pleasant to drink. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Nov 5, 2004 Copper color, light sweet malty aroma, light alcoholic taste, light body, light alcoholic finish. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Nov 1, 2004 A very cloying orange coloured beer. Little carbonation. Loads of sweet malt flavors, with a slight burnt character. A strong alcoholic kick on the finish. Not really my style at all. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA Oct 27, 2004 Copper. Bursting aroma of apples, toffee, band-aid, caramel, burnt popcorn kernels, herbs and sweet deep malt. Flavor begins with a variety of dark fruits (plums, apples). The mid-palate is pretty non-existant but does possess a subtle note of sherry. The finish is very pleasant and contains notes of burnt butter toffee, alcohol and dark fruits. A nice beer with a well hidden alcohol but lacking body, in a serious way. Nonetheless, a serious beer that seems to be a little underated to me. I enjoyed this. jtw (942), farmington, Michigan, USA Oct 24, 2004 essentially no head, very low carbonation. sweet malty alcohol aroma, sweet malty alcohol body. not particularly complex, in fact not much here besides caramel malts and alcohol--maybe somes pineappley notes. label says not cloying; i disagree. uck. like drinking a liqueur than a beer. kwoeltje (1313), Manchester, Missouri, USA Oct 23, 2004 (bottle) golden amber, almost no head. malt and alcohol aroma. Flavor is mostly alcohol and sweetish caramel malt.
