lachesis (759), St Idesbald, Belgium Oct 17, 2004 Very strong beer with a warmgolden amber color and a X.O. cognac shine. Very strong and alcoholic aroma’s with a hint of Rum soaked fruit and X-Mas pudding Londen style. Nice maly accent and touch of butter caramel. The taste is very rich and warm with notes of dried fruits, butter toffee, caramel, malts and again old X.O cognac. You need to take some time to taste this one. It has a super full taste, it is very complex and it is ending with a strong alcohol burn. It just lacks loads of freshness. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark Oct 16, 2004 Pours an airy off-white head on a clear copper colored body. Typical eisbock aroma, sweet and caramelly and alcoholic. Flavor is dominated by a cloying sweetness. Fruit, malt and caramel and a warming tone of alcohol. Definately not my kind of beer. pantani (1894), Salinas, California, USA Oct 7, 2004 Not as bad as I thought it would be. Malt, alcohol, butterscotch, caramel, honey, very sweet aroma. No head. Very alcoholic sweet taste, alcohol is present but not overwhelimg. Very sweet. umali (5), Middleburg, Florida, USA does not count Oct 5, 2004 Pours a nice amber. I poured it with the glass vertical, then i tilted it. It gave a white-tanish head, but quickly disappeared. It smelled like apple cider to me the first time, pretty fruity the other times. Taste sweet, kind of nutty, but a very strong liquor taste. well, not strong, but its like 11% is swimming around going.."hey, i’m here!!!!" It goes down smooth and kind of warm. i can only sip it, like liquor. maybe something to take camping in the cooler months - to keep warm and to have beer...maybe. presario (2953), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Sep 27, 2004 Certainly not Kulmbacher. Attractive clear amber-copper. No head. Strong singed caramel flavour. Very present alcohol feeling. Too sweet for me but not cloying, like a liquor. Some interesting flavours. Hard to pin down. Sherry substitute may be best description. The Etruscan (304), Tuscany, Italy Sep 17, 2004 Almost no head. Amber color. Aroma is malty, fruity with light caramel, alcohol and a few nutty and tobacco notes. Flavor is malty too with dark fruits and light alcohol tones, ending in a sweet and moderately spicy finish. Full bodied. Brodie (540), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA Sep 16, 2004 On tap at Steinkeller. Strong malty aroma, raisins and figs, clean. Dark amber color, no head. Rich malt flavor, dark dried fruits, lots of alcohol. Full bodied, warming (almost burns), no carbonation. A clean, malty, but overpoweringly alcoholic beer. Goblincat (356), Westland, Michigan, USA Sep 15, 2004 Pours reddish-amber with a short lived pure white head. Interesting malt and caramel nose. Very thick, fruity caramel and molasses filled flavors. Very interesting, almost brandy-like in taste and mouthfeel. I’ve never had anything like it and I’m drawn to it in a good way. Very interesting.
