Commercial Description:
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Great beer with a good level of sweetness. Lots of fruit flavors with a bit of alcohol taste. Good flavor overall. Not sure ehy it is rated so low for such a tasty beer.

bottle. Copper pour, with a small white head. Slightly sweet fruity aroma. Sweet flavor as well, a little boozy as well. Pretty good.

Pours a dark amber, almost copperish, with an off-white head. Aroma of sweet fruit including raisins, pears, and prunes. Fairly sweet and rich beer with a lot of alcohol, although it is not overwhelming. Very tasty overall, make sure to enjoy.

Light amber with a thin white head. Aroma of sweet malt and dried fruit, maybe a hint of almond. Taste is full of alcohol and sugary fruit, rich and sweet. Potent and very, very tasty.

33cl bottle from a Leclerc in Colombes, Paris. Gold with a ring of white head; intense aroma of dried fruit - dates, prunes, raisins, apples and pears; the mouth feel is that of a dessert wine, cloyingly sweet, with apricot and marzipan flavours; warming spirit-like finish, reminding me of Calvados or a fruity Speyside malt whisky. A beer to sip very slowly and enjoy.

33 cl bottle, ’bbe’ Jan 09. Slightly darkened copper colour, completely transparent. The head has great difficulty to keep itself alive and definitely dies within several minutes. Fruity, sweet and cloying aroma, calling to memory a sort of slightly fermented apple mash, pears and dried dates. Strong body with an initially rather sweet taste with that same apple/pearish note and a hint of Irish cream liqueur, yet soon replaced with rather harsh bitterness. Noticeable but not too assertive alcohol combines in to evoke Lowland whisky. Somewhere halfway between Dutch ’Maximators’ and alike and Belgian heavyweight champions.

Pours a nice clear coppery-red with a fairly thick, pale yellow head that does not stick around. Aroma is strong and more fruity than malty, not at all like a beer with such a high alcohol content. Flavor has a fairly fierce but not overwhelming alcohol bite; taste is mainly sweet and fruity with an undertone of caramel, more like liquor than beer. Aftertaste is sweet without being cloying.

Shared w/ Gman during Christmas celebration at mommas. His rating is below mine....read his rating. Main points: Super sweet and chewy. Robust fruitiness, but not the kind I generally enjoy...b/c I do enjoy fruitiness now and then. Very malty as well. Not a huge fan.
