| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 27, 2008 Pours a nice clear coppery-red with a fairly thick, pale yellow head that does not stick around. Aroma is strong and more fruity than malty, not at all like a beer with such a high alcohol content. Flavor has a fairly fierce but not overwhelming alcohol bite; taste is mainly sweet and fruity with an undertone of caramel, more like liquor than beer. Aftertaste is sweet without being cloying. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 26, 2008 Shared w/ Gman during Christmas celebration at mommas. His rating is below mine....read his rating. Main points: Super sweet and chewy. Robust fruitiness, but not the kind I generally enjoy...b/c I do enjoy fruitiness now and then. Very malty as well. Not a huge fan. Grizzle (44), Lawrence, Kansas, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 26, 2008 Bottle in a pint glass. Pours a crystal clear amber with cranberry undertones. Off white head that dissipated quickly, and zero lacing. Smells very sweet, yeasty, malty, and something like dried prunes. The taste is also very yeasty and of overly ripe fruit or prunes. Honestly, this is not a very good beer. Gary (352), Buckinghamshire, England
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 24, 2008 Holy shit Talk about malt and sweetness. I felt my heart stop. But it was beautiful drinking a few of these on a cold ass Christmas Eve in the back yard before the Eve fun kickerd of.. .UMM big ass malt aromas. complex , challenging flavours but are still kinda approcable . shitloads of raw hot boozinees-that become streams with chocolate raisin esters : Burnt sugars burn your tounge in the finish. Good fun. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 20, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, effervescent amber with a moderate amount of thick, cream-colored head. Cool appearance. Fruity aroma features apple, peach, fruitcake, and golden raisin scents. Licorice (anise) dominates the flavor, at least initially. Yellow plum, mango juice, an apricot pie flavors also present. Sweet and rich, spicy taste. Odd but interesting, spicy aftertaste. Thick and fizzy in the palate. Alcohol burn as it goes down the throat. Not as hard to drink as one might expect. EKU 28 is, somewhat surprisingly, not bad, but it*s certainly not an every day beer. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 15, 2008 Pours like the picture. Nose is malt heavy and sweet with raisin, brown sugar, and alcohol. Flavor is similar, a little saltier, heavily sweet and sugary, more alcohol. Medicinal with warmth. Syrupy body, short finish of bread and alcohol. Decent, but a little one sided.
