Sweet caramel aroma with lingering alcohol warmth and some hints of smoke and tobacco. Flavour is quite sweet to start, with notes of caramel, icing sugar, almond & orange, leading into a very warm, moderately bitter finish. A bit harsh around the edges, but still enjoyable, especially if you take the time to drink it slowly. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

Syrupy mouthfeel, starts sweet and gets even more sweet. I’m not sure that I would like this as much if I drank a bottle or two at once. KAggie97 (2482), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Sep 22, 2005 Bottle, pre-Rita festivities. Pours a beautiful golden brown, with glorious lacing. Aroma is alcohol, molasses, raisin, and toffee. Flavor is a sweet ass-kicking of alcohol, sugar, toffee, and cotton candy. Wonderfully coating palate soothes the tongue. Great beer. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Feb 11, 2004 This beer pours a clear pretty deep gold color. The head is almost non-existant but shows a tan color when roused from the glass. The aroma is dominated by strong malt, the thick malt overwhelms everything. Feels quite thick on the tongue. Surprisingly, given the body, it is not really all that sweet. This is a thick chewy malty brew. The malt character is the show here though. Having said that, this beer is lacking a bit; it is missing some of the malt complexity of a good strong lager. This is a nice clean lager. It is almost syrupy in consistency. In the end a bit dissapointing, needs a bit more character to be really worth drinking. Mungo (2473), Southampton, Hampshire, England
