Light reddy amber body with minimal head. Dried fruit in the aroma followed by alcohol. Medium to full body, syrupy sort of mandarin, caramel, sweet, syrupy but drinkable. willblake (2177), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Brilliant copper-golden, no sediment; medium-sized light tan head fades quickly leaving a slight ring. Aroma of plums, raisin, booze, grape juice, grenadine. Full, round, fruity, and chewy. Sweet bread with honey and apple butter, but never too sweet. Alcohol lends a finishing driness but not spicy; are there not hops in this? Alcohol is hidden wonderfully, but it’s unclear what it’s hidden behind as the stuff is rather simple and almost bland. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

Sweet malt syrup aroma plus pecans and big time alcohol. Flavor is sweet and hot and reminds me of caramel and strawberries with a rich, syrupy malt character. Very mild hop profile and bitterness. Mostly flat, syrupy texture. A sweet, mostly clean, alcohol delivery vehicle. I can feel the heat all the way down. I wouldn’t pay to revisit this.

Musy, stewed fruit and malt aroma has an edge of cherry liquer to it. The body is a transparent orange/amber and the thumb thick white, diminishes rapidly. Dry fore is malt laden with fruit notes on the edges and a sort of toasty, spent grainy flavor. Alcohol and very faint maple and caramel notes make up the finish. I really hated this the first time I had it a year or so ago, but I find it much more palatable. I’ve also learned that it isn’t really an Eisbock just a very strong lager.

I have only had a few eisbocks, but this is the first I did not like. Way too present alcohol made it undrinkable. And what flavors there are a kinda malt/caramel sweetness are buried in that alcohol. If there was an Avery label on this I’d totally believe it was an Avery beer. EithCubes (2146), Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 3, 2007 Bottle. Sweet malty aroma, lots of red berry and fruitiness, molasses, raisin, brown sugar, grape, very ripe. Clear orange body with a creamy beige-tanned head. Taste is overly full (syrupy) and sweet, loads of ripe fruit and malt with a noticeable but not overpowering degree of alcohol. Sweet with no bitter. Aftertaste is a bit sugary (under-attenuated?) and boozy, but but only lightly. Caramel joins the fruit party first hinted at in the nose. Really creamy with a few swishes. Something of an intense Maibock. Reminds me of a tripel recently had, though this seems a bit flawed. A raw dessert beer that, unlike most of the raters here, I’d happily have again. Flavor is much the same- caramel and musty malts, with a light fruity essence. Alcohol is surprisingly subdued, but this beer is not too interesting regardless of its strength.
