Flavor is much the same- caramel and musty malts, with a light fruity essence. Alcohol is surprisingly subdued, but this beer is not too interesting regardless of its strength. zach8270 (2121), Henrietta, New York, USA

Poured a deep copper red with a creamy looking white head. Very rich aroma of hops blended with sweet malts, caramel and toffee and some clove as well. Isn’t as sweet in the flavor as I thought it would be. It has sweetness to it, but also a decent balance of hops and alcohol. Very thick and chewy. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

Malty aroma, with some hints of vanilla. Nice touch of alcohol. No hop presence. No bitterness. Enjoyable beer. TAR (2093), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jan 8, 2002 Pretty poor. Beer has no head, which is expected by such a strong lager. Whsikey, oak and stuff come to mind. Too much alcohol. Hard to finish a bottle, share with a good pal. OleR (2093), Oslo, Norway

The aroma has a soft, delicate sweet and nutty malt profile, lots of ripe fruits and a noticeable, but inoffensive alcohol scent. Taste is vinous, gently sweet, full malty with a plummy fruitiness. Notes of mild bittering hops, molasses and port. Chewy mouthfeel. Full-bodied. A pleasant alcohol heat in the finish. Powerful and balanced. A treat. PhillyBeer2112 (2089), Orange Park, Florida, USA

Some orange peel notes in aroma. Strong bready-caramel toffee flavor. Rather sweet - borderline cloying. Lightly spicy hop finish. Some light fruity notes and a candyish quality in the finish. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 1, 2006 Is this what happens when your only goal is to make a beer with high ABV? There are many beers with this level of alcohol that are so much better. The beer pours clear brown with a reddish tint and an uneven soapy light tan head that disappears very quick. Aroma is rich caramel and alcohol - lots of sweetness. Syrupy thick body with very little carbonation. Flavor starts with alcohol and caramel - rich and sweet. Finish has even more alcohol - warm finish. Whilst this has lots in the ABV department it is quite boring and unimpressive.
