Commercial Description:
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

This is a favorite of mine - perfect for nursing over a quiet winters night. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a crystal clear deep mahogany color with very little head that disappears very quickly. The brew has the texture of of brandy without the burn. The aroma is sweet and nutty. There is a burst of sweetness, plum and molasses in the flavor. Some faint bitterness lingers. There is some alcohol burn. Definitely a slow sipping beer more reminiscent of wine or brandy. A classic.

Bottled. Pours a medium amber color. Aroma is malty and sweet with a little bit of fruitiness. Malty sweet flavor. Some dark fruitiness as well. Some roasted maltiness in the finish. Alcohol is not too noticable. Enjoyable brew.

Deep copper pour with a tiny white head and lace. A deep brown sugar aroma dominated for me. Brown sugar on the flavor followed by a very light smooth finishing bitter. A bit foamy medium bodied beer.

fresh: oops i dropped a sugardaddy candy in my dog's food..oh wait, nevermind, that was the aroma of this beer...what do you get when you take a farm's load of barley malt, absolutely no hops, too much sugar, and some yeast??...this horrifically strong tasting brew!... I heard that suicide bombers in Afghanistan drink this right before they die so to take their minds off of the pain of dying...sorta like biting your lip when you stub your toe...substituting one pain for another...so if you ever stub your toe or plan on bombing a discotech or subway train..this beers for you (1.8) 1992 version, drank 2004: Wow, what a frickin' improvement..this was like a chocolate malt shake...similiar to an aged samiclaus. (4.0)

Bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Pours a crystal clear rosy amber color with minimal head. Nose of candied tree fruits and sweet malts. Flavor is a little boozy with sweet malt and sweet fruits.

Nice amber color, small tan head.Malty, yeasty aroma with a slight juicy fruit gum smell eminating from this brew.Malty taste, the alcohol is quite harsh it everywhere in this brew.the feel is slightly syrupy and kind of hangs on you like the alcohol does.In fact i'd say this brew is a little one sided with the alcohol taking first second and third place in the taste. It's a bit over powering and i think i would rather have the Aventinus over this any day.But it had to be tried, and now that i have i'm glad i'm done with it.

A very prevalent sweet malted flavor, caramel nuts and so on- clear copper colour with a small sized white head. This beer is strong for the price and i recommend trying it.
