Commercial Description:
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Pours a deep reddish amber with a fully receding tan head. Aroma of rich caramel, toffee, vinous malt, plums, and alcohol. Taste is sweet and sticky with a tinge of spicy alcohol on the nose. Notes of toffee, earthy malts, wood, and phenols. Mouthfeel is heavy with lively carbonation. Good, but not as enjoyable as the Aventinus Eisbock. A bit too sweet and one-dimensional.

An alcohol kick on the first sip, but as it warms, it becomes a nice mellow drink. I think my bottle is abit old, probably mellowed abit. Alot of sugar and malt, but really not as overpowering as I’d expect, quite nice.

Bottle. Pour is a coppery amber with little head and aromas that remind me of bananas and bourbon. Flavor has an overwhelming bourbon edge to them that is really astringent in the aftertaste. I didn’t enjoy this Eisbock very much.

not sure of the age... prolly around a year. reddish orange pour with a thin off white head. the nose is really grainy and sweet... other notes of orange, flowers and alcohol stingy are kicking around as well. the palate is thick though just shy of cloying... i guess that helps keep the alcohol under control... flavors noted of perfume, orange, grapefruit, caramel, loads of grainy sweetness, raisins and perhaps some nutty chocolate with a surprisingly dry finish. thick, syrupy mouth feel makes it hard for me to finish a bottle alone...7/3/7/2.5/15/3.45

(3/10/08) Bottle at Delirium Cafe in Brussels. Best before 4/4/09. Clear amber with lively carbonation and a slowly-diminishing off-white head. Aroma of a lot of malt and caramel. Sweet flavor of malt, caramel and some alcohol. Medium to full-bodied. Great stuff but a bit too much alcoholic feel.

Pours a darker amber with a medium fluffy beige foam on top. Spicy fruity caramel malt aroma with notes of honey. Nice sweet rich dark malt flavor, brown sugar, honey, raisins, and german hops. Light and airy body that is also sticky. Covers the 11% pretty well.

Amber color with no head. Aroma is sticky sweet and sugary, with some alcohol. Flavor is well blended. Sweet almost cloying (despite the description) and smooth. Palate is really nice. Clean finish with just a hint of the alcohol presence.

Bottle. I have always liked this one, but it is not for everyone. This is a malt monster by every definition, although Samiclaus and Urbock 23 I think are superior. Golden and clear, with not much of a head. Massive malt aroma, with vanilla, a touch of alcohol, and various candies. Big malty, malt-wine flavor. No bitterness, just malt. Slight alcohol bite. Nice fire-sipping cold night brew.
