Commercial Description:
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Bottle. I have always liked this one, but it is not for everyone. This is a malt monster by every definition, although Samiclaus and Urbock 23 I think are superior. Golden and clear, with not much of a head. Massive malt aroma, with vanilla, a touch of alcohol, and various candies. Big malty, malt-wine flavor. No bitterness, just malt. Slight alcohol bite. Nice fire-sipping cold night brew.

Pours out dark gold with a small white head that disapates quickly. Aroma is creamy like a good sherry and carmelly. Smooth taste of an eisbock, slightly thick with some alcohol. A bit of sweetness, but very balanced.I like to treat this as an after dinner drink and sip it slow.

Clear amber color, off white head, fully diminishing. Very sweet malt aroma, some alcohol. Flavor is big time malt, very sweet, not too sweet but damn close to my tolerance of sweet. Alcohol is fairly assertive, but overall masked pretty well. Full body. Not bad but it'll test your sweetness threshold.

Pours a nice, but light, amber color that is crystal clear and has a thin, off-white head. The aroma is quite interesting, strong alcohol, bready malt, a light sweetness and very identifiable strength. The flavor is a little too sweet for me. Toffee and simple syrup dominate behind the overpowering alcohol. I don't mind a big beer, but not one that tastes like alcohol with hints of nothingness in the back.

330 ml bottle. Copper colour. Crystal clear. Small off-white head. Caramel aroma with hints of toffee. Feels sweet initially, but the body is relatively light making the beer quite easily drinkable. Oily texture. Hints of honey, white pepper and leather. I guess it is the bitterness that cuts through most of the residual sugars. Nicely balanced, and surprisingly drinkable.

strong beer tasting '04: deep amber, small head. butterscotch, hard candy and alcohol on the nose. flavour starts out nicely with a mix of dried fruit - cherries, raisin, date, cranberry. then goes kind of funky with a pet food kind of taste. not bad overall, though.

[Sampled at Carsten Bertelsens Ølrejsen.] Very goodlooking and sweetfatty aroma with notes of caramel, syrup and some alcohol. The strong alcohol dominates the sweetflavor in a way that does not heat the fire in me, (although it is 11 %). But it is better each time I taste it, so maybe next time it’s more than 3.0

We had sampled both the exported version and the actual one that was from Germany.we all liked the American one better.Kind of had a spicy note to it with some sweet afternotes.
