Commercial Description:
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Poured a light amber pink clear color with lots and lots of bubbles and a small amount of white head. Looks to me like a glass of raspberry 7up. Aroma is very fruity, kinda a mix of raspberry and pears and some burbony alcohol undertones. Flavor is very acidicy and fruity with a whole bunch of alcohol punch. Almost tastes like cough medicine in a weird way. Brings back bad childhood nyquil memories. Overall, started decent, but couldnt get past nyquil stuff.

Pours a clear amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet with caramel, plums, raisons, and alcohol. Flavor starts off pretty light, not what i was expecting at all. Starts off sweet with caramel, raisons, and plums. Pretty strong finish with plenty of alcohol warming. Has a somewhat lingering flavor. Somewhat decent beer.

Bottled. Malt malt alcohol alcohol with a hint of some sort of berry flavor. Finished with a nice sweet flavor.

Unusually viscous feeling in the mouth. It tastes like overripe apples and raisins. The odor is the same. Second and third swigs did not improve my feelings. Very disappointed. I let the drain sample the rest.

Dark orange in color with basically no head at all. Rich malty aroma with plenty of toffee and sugary sweet notes. Very sweet malty flavors upfront, some medicinal notes. Some vanilla and woody dryness. Finish is very hot. Too heavy on the alcohol and lacks balance.

Amber color and a small but delisicious head. Very fruity(raisins?) and liqueric aroma. The taste is liquric too, alcoholic, but it doesn’t hurt my palate. Flavour of raisins, honey, some tart and dry aftertaste. Syrupy beer warms me up...Hard one.

Pours a yellowed brownish red with a darker than expected light tan head, big at first, diminishing over time. The nose is sweet with big fruity, raisiny malt and alcohol. Dark caramel notes sneak out. The palate is smooth and a bit slippery with a bit of alcohol warming. The flavors a really bold and tasty. Big sweet malt giving raisin sorts of notes common in barleywines. Fruity sweetness is balanced with oaky and slightly spicy flavors as well as ample alcohol. A quick bubblegum aftertaste followed by lingering oak and alcohol type bitterness. I see how people could dislike this beer so much, but for me, this was very enjoyable. I particularly enjoy beers that use high levels of alcohol to balance sweetness. I find it really cuts down potentially cloying beers better than mouth scraping hop-bombs. Not that I don’t love hop bombs!

I agree with everyone. Much too sweet! It had some good qualities. It smelled like a sugar cookie! The taste of port would come out more in 3 years and maybe the sweetness would be diminished as well.
