Commercial Description:
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Caramel color. Smell of wine, spice, malt, fruit, nuts, toasted caramel, alcohol and hints of vanila beans. Taste of plums, cherries, toasted malt, caramel, spice, toffee, nuts and alcohol. Very high alcohol taste and it really warms your body up. I like it! Thanks Brewblackhole!

Bottle. Sweet malt, portwine and alcohol aroma aroma. Clear orangeamber colour with beige head. Sweet spicy flavour with plenty of malt, ripe fruits and except for the carbonation sherry character.

Beautiful aroma of sweet ripened fruits, malty, bread-like, brown sugar. The appearance is also very attractive, a nice copper red color, substantial off-white head. The flavor was very sweet, but not cloying, fruity, brown sugar, slight alcohol (not much considering the abv), baked bread. The finish is where the alcohol comes out, aleaving an alcohol burn in the back of the throat. The finish has a very light bittering hoppiness as well. The mouthfeel is thick, and has a slickness to it as well. I really enjoy this style. While this is not the best Eisbock, it is certainly very enjoyable. Only the fact that it’s a little too boozy keeps it from being a classic.

This started out promising, but was reallly not very good. Poured to a brownish red, with medium tan head and had an aroma of malty dark fruit. Unfortunately, the head dissipated almost immediately, and left zero lacing. In addition, as beer warmed, the 11% alcohol became the overwhelming aroma and taste, so thatg by the end, I felt like I was drinking some cheap rock-gut or moonshine. Not impressed with EKU 28.

Nice looking beer, head is a bit big bubbled and "soapy" good steady bead. Alcohol dominates the palate, malt is noticable, sweet and slightly cloying. Nice, barley wine look-a-like and taste -a-like. I liked it but it wasn’t the classic I expected. Present from Amsterdam.

pours orange and clear with a very weak malty nose, flavor is very nice, malty and sweet but offset by a nice amount of bittering hops. a medium body and smooth aftertaste, no hint of the abv anywhere. very enjoyable brew.

A nice dark orange/amber color with little head that is gone within a minutre or so starts off this beer. I have to agree with Oakes's Samichlaus reference, as the aroma is very similar. However, not quite as strong! Flavor is also "samichlaus-esque"...again not quite as strong. really, I think this beer has been treated harshly...the flavor is far from undrinkable, in my opinion. Not the best brew...but it has the potential to age very well, I think!

Pours a nice clear coppery-red with a fairly thick, pale yellow head that does not stick around. Aroma is strong and more fruity than malty, not at all like a beer with such a high alcohol content. Flavor has a fairly fierce but not overwhelming alcohol bite; taste is mainly sweet and fruity with an undertone of caramel, more like liquor than beer. Aftertaste is sweet without being cloying.
