Bottle. Pours with an amber color and a fairly small head. The aroma is dominated by malts and caramel. Flavor is sweet, the alcohol is noticeable, and agains a very dominat malitness that is no offset by any hops. It could be cloying if drank too warm but with the right temperature it is quite nice.

This is a ok Eisbock. Sweet, sherry, and malty flavors. Finishes syrupy, chewy, and warming.

Have you ever woke up after one too many and drank from that pepsi can sitting on your night stand only to find it flat with a cigarette butt in it? If you liked it try this beer.

(GERMANY) Pours a nice amber / orange color with zero head. Has a flowery / alcohol aroma with a lingering fizzy body. The taste is strong, With malty, alcohol flavor and some hints of honey. The finish goes down very warm !!! Plus watch out for the 11% it could knock you for a loop. :)

On tap at Mahars. Poured a cherry red with a great frothy head. Aroma was sweet and caramelly. Flavor was like a nice black forest cake soaked in fine port.

33cl bottle. Pours a copper with a thick but short-lived, yellowish-off-white head. The aroma is intense with sweet malts. It almost smells like malt extract: sugary sweet with some interesting touches of fruit, like dates and raisins. There is some measure of bitterness in the aroma, too, from alcohol. The flavor starts strong and very sweet. There are lots of sweet malt flavors in there: dark corn syrup, caramel, toffee, and perhaps a hint of honey. Towards the middle of the tongue there is a bready/biscuity malt character that, combined with the residual sweetness, tastes cake-like. A slight, fruity bitterness enters around mid-palate, too. The finish is full and sweet with a small hop bitterness that doesn’t quite balance it out. There is also a note of alcohol in the finish and on the back of the throat, but it is mild. The mouthfeel is medium to medium-full in body - which is surprisingly light considering the strength and intense, almost cloying, sweetness. The level of carbonation is crisp and provides some zing around mid-palate - a slight acidity that helps balance out the big, sweet malts. Overall, this was an interesting beer but too close to cloyingly sweet and not complex enough.

Umm, hmm... Other beers from carrying the Eku moniker were much better. What happened to this one? This beer lacked head when poured, too-malty aroma, thick mouthfeel like chewing a sock. Not a great beer.

Not really as bad as some have said, but certainly not great. Very sweet malt flavor, wine/whiskey/caramel nose and strong alcohol flavor in the finish. Warming and fairly smooth aftertaste, but too sweet and too high in ABV. This is probably a style that should just give up.
