Very strong and alcoholic aroma’s with a hint of Rum soaked fruit and X-Mas pudding Londen style. Nice maly accent and touch of butter caramel. The taste is very rich and warm with notes of dried fruits, butter toffee, caramel, malts and again old X.O cognac. You need to take some time to taste this one. It has a super full taste, it is very complex and it is ending with a strong alcohol burn. It just lacks loads of freshness. Papsoe (15119), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 26, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Used to be the world’s strongest brew - now just one of the strongest... Beautiful, deep amber colour, rather small, white head. Delicate almost sherry-like notes, some sweetness and a lightly smoked character reminding me of whisky. Loads of alcohol, but never unpleasant. Great beer indeed. 040899 mephisto (1144), Taiwan
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 21, 2005 bottled, amber color and has no head. huge aroma of caramel and alcohol. full bodied, the taste of alcohol dominates a complex mix of various flavors. fairly drinkable given its abv, the balance between alcohol and other malt flavors is bold. seamus77 (31), kansas city, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 12, 2005 nice fruity-sweet aroma, beautiful deep copper colour, and a thick but shortlasting head. creamy, medium heavy body, a bit hot but not too hot tasting, considering the 11% alcohol level, spicy, and sweet with a slight spiced bitterness to the finish. a pretty good, but not great brew, perhaps something to help warm you up sitting by a fire in the winter. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 27, 2005 Bottle at Firkin’s, Libertyville, IL. Clear amber hued having a rapidly diminishing large off-white head with excellent lacing. Heady sweet malt aroma with hints of toffee and fruits. Full-bodied with heavy consistency of maple syrup. Starts with smooth creamy malt flavor with slight hop and finishes thickly with slight cloying sweet flavor with some hop touches. Definite alcoholic warmth. A tasty drinkable eisbock beer that’s best enjoyed without food. patrick767 (2058), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 4, 2007 bottle - Pours clear light amber with a thin head. The aroma is malt and some mild dark fruit notes. The taste is sweet, almost syrupy, caramel malt and light fruit notes. Full bodied, lightly carbonated, and with some definite alcohol presence, especially in the finish, I thought this beer was a good dessert beer, but not what I’d call world class. decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2009 Deep copper pour with a tiny white head and lace. A deep brown sugar aroma dominated for me. Brown sugar on the flavor followed by a very light smooth finishing bitter. A bit foamy medium bodied beer. Skyview (4104), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 1, 2007 Bottle shared by joebrew, pours a clear amber brew with a fast dissolving white head that leaves behind a swirling film top and some bottles on side. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, some toffee, plums and plenty of alcohol. Taste is slick/oily, medium to full bodied, with lots of sugary character of molasses, caramel syrup and corn syrup. Finish is very alcoholic strong and over the top sweet. I remember trying this back when I was 18 and was told this was the strongest beer ever made. Being nieve at the time thinking Pabst Blue Ribbon was what beer was supposed to taste like, I did not think much of EKU 28. Happy to say I know better today.
