Clear amber hued having a rapidly diminishing large off-white head with excellent lacing. Heady sweet malt aroma with hints of toffee and fruits. Full-bodied with heavy consistency of maple syrup. Starts with smooth creamy malt flavor with slight hop and finishes thickly with slight cloying sweet flavor with some hop touches. Definite alcoholic warmth. A tasty drinkable eisbock beer that’s best enjoyed without food. patrick767 (2033), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 4, 2007 bottle - Pours clear light amber with a thin head. The aroma is malt and some mild dark fruit notes. The taste is sweet, almost syrupy, caramel malt and light fruit notes. Full bodied, lightly carbonated, and with some definite alcohol presence, especially in the finish, I thought this beer was a good dessert beer, but not what I’d call world class. beeranarchist (185), Aalborg, Denmark

Semi sweet body, with fruitiness i would attribute to the yeast. Was told it was 12 percent on tap. alexanderj (2252), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 20, 2009 Bottle; the world needs more eisbocks. Poured a clear amber color; not much head, but really nice looking. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel, grapes, alcohol and sweet malt. I could see the love/hate on this one, although to me it wasn’t extremely flavorful. However, it was a solid, malty beer. Caramel gives way to a burst of alcohol and dark fruit. A lingering toffee like presence in the finish. Not too much alcohol warming, which was a tad surprising, although the alcohol was always evident. Skyview (4050), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 1, 2007 Bottle shared by joebrew, pours a clear amber brew with a fast dissolving white head that leaves behind a swirling film top and some bottles on side. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, some toffee, plums and plenty of alcohol. Taste is slick/oily, medium to full bodied, with lots of sugary character of molasses, caramel syrup and corn syrup. Finish is very alcoholic strong and over the top sweet. I remember trying this back when I was 18 and was told this was the strongest beer ever made. Being nieve at the time thinking Pabst Blue Ribbon was what beer was supposed to taste like, I did not think much of EKU 28. Happy to say I know better today. hellbilly (1532), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA

reddish orange pour with a thin off white head.
the nose is really grainy and sweet... other notes of orange, flowers and alcohol stingy are kicking around as well.
the palate is thick though just shy of cloying... i guess that helps keep the alcohol under control... flavors noted of perfume, orange, grapefruit, caramel, loads of grainy sweetness, raisins and perhaps some nutty chocolate with a surprisingly dry finish.
thick, syrupy mouth feel makes it hard for me to finish a bottle alone...7/3/7/2.5/15/3.45 BMan1113VR (2883), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2008 Served in a proper EKU Snifter at Academie de la Biere in Paris. Aroma is sweet of dry fruits and maybe some raspberries with alcohol. Clear amber body with a small head that disappears soon after pouring. Tastes a lot like the Samichlaus I had recently. Drinks a bit like a liquor with a kind of syrupy feel and noticeable alcohol in the taste and stomach, but it is pretty good overall. Not something that you could or would want to drink a lot of.
