Commercial Description:
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Malty, sugary, alcoholic aroma, some faint notes of golden raisin and light toastiness. Light-medium copper color with a very slight head, seems to be lacking in lace as well. Flavor profile is malty and sweet up front, in fact largely dominated by light brown sugary sweetness but finishes with some mildly pleasant fruity, licorice and alcoholic tones. Smooth and lightly syrupy on the palate, body is undoubtedly very full. It had been a very long time since I'd sampled this beer last, and at the time I remember being completely daunted by the alcohol content alone, much less the huge, fruity maltiness this beer has to offer. I found a 12oz. bottle nigh impossible to finish singlehandedly, in fact, so you could say I didn't like it very much. Since those days I've sampled a couple of beers that were over twice as strong as this one in regards to alcohol content, so EKU 28 seems pretty tame anymore. Not bad, either, for all its one-dimensional charms.

Crystal clear, burnt orange lager with a fizzy, khaki / orange head. In the nose, the high ABV is fairly well-hidden. Very fruity with notes of fuzzy and tropical fruit. Also, honey, dates and pineapple. The flavor is very malty, sweet and fruity. Again, the high ABV is well-hidden under notes of smoke, vanilla, dates and pineapple. Syrupy mouthfeel. Lively carbonation. The hops and alcohol don't quite balance this big brew out. Dry, alcoholic finish. Throughout, the malt is a touch cloying. Still a very nice brew... as I once again go against the grain.

Frothy, off-white head which diminishes fully. Virtually no lace. Normally clear, orange body. Yeasty (dough), hoppy (flowers) and port aroma. Moderately acidic, lightly bitter initial flavour. Lightly acidic, lightly bitter (long-lasting) finish. Fully bodied. Lively carbonation. Moderately alcoholic feel.

Had a bottle at the Root Bar in Swannanoa, which has a pretty decent selection of imports available. Poured a deep orange-amber color with a fluffy tan head. The alcohol in this beer is very prominent, which, honestly, was the reason why I chose this beer to begin with, so I was satisfied. Haven’t had too many Eisbocks, but it’s a style I’ll happily imbibe in the future.

pours orange and clear with a very weak malty nose, flavor is very nice, malty and sweet but offset by a nice amount of bittering hops. a medium body and smooth aftertaste, no hint of the abv anywhere. very enjoyable brew.

(GERMANY) Pours a nice amber / orange color with zero head. Has a flowery / alcohol aroma with a lingering fizzy body. The taste is strong, With malty, alcohol flavor and some hints of honey. The finish goes down very warm !!! Plus watch out for the 11% it could knock you for a loop. :)

Pours like the picture. Nose is malt heavy and sweet with raisin, brown sugar, and alcohol. Flavor is similar, a little saltier, heavily sweet and sugary, more alcohol. Medicinal with warmth. Syrupy body, short finish of bread and alcohol. Decent, but a little one sided.
