I think my bottle is abit old, probably mellowed abit. Alot of sugar and malt, but really not as overpowering as I’d expect, quite nice. Doggythedog (1597), Split, Croatia

Poured a beautiful red colour with a tiny beige head that vanished immediately. The nose is jam, alcohol and caramel. The taste is quite similar to that of Samichlaus, as complex but maybe less enjoyable. Alcohol, malt, jam, orange, vitamins, caramel, some hopiness and alcohol burn in the aftertaste. Felt as strong or even stronger than Samichlaus. Compared to the other eisbock I’ve had recently, Aventinus Weizen-Eisbock, this isn’t all that good. That was extremely tasty and enjoyable and this barely palatable compared to this. I can respect it, but now I understand why this is rated so low. yayforbeer (648), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 8, 2005 Copper colored beer pours thick with a cream colored head that quickly recedes due to the high alcohol content. Aroma is sweet malt and a whiff of alcohol. Flavor is sweet, thick malt, and a big alcohol hit. The flavor is pretty good, but it does not even try to hide the booze, and that is not entirely a bad thing. Big bold malt and caramel flavor; sweet, thick, and chewy. Interesting, enjoyable, and good, but not something I could drink more than one or two of. KnutAlbert (3217), Oslo, Norway
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 6, 2007 Brown, clear beer. Smells of sweet malt. Very vinous aroma, strong kick of alcohol. Flowery sweet, though there are hops here, too, avoiding a too cloying sweetness. Hint of sherry or port, some burned sugar. thewolf (5808), Kolding, Denmark

Pours a wonderful deep orange amber with a fine creamy off white head. Doughy aroma, some rye and alcohol. Oily mouthfeel and good bite. Flavour is sweet and creamy with high sweetness and a bit cloying. Not much balance, but it’s not poor. The alcohol is impressively hidden. museofky (15), Lexington, Kentucky, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 30, 2005 One of my favorite beers. Amber color, small head, sweet but not overwhelmingly so. I thought it was very easy to drink, and had to invite some friends over to check this one out! krysztofar (344), belleville, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 30, 2009 120z bottle. clean and coppery in color. pours with a slightly yellowed head. has a big malty sweet nose. distinctly german style malt aroma.fuity candied apricot comes to mind. rich thick and sappy mouthfeel. prickly carbonation marries well with a hop flavor that is mildly spicy and a tad sharp. sherry or port this is not. for starters its carbonated. but i see the comparison because desert it is. sweet and full pair with? i’m not sure-a cup of coffee? ha brianbuntz (49), Santa Monica, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 20, 2007 Pours a very clear amber with a quickly disintegrating head. Definite sweetness and maltiness in the nose--and both those traits flavor the beer, too. The alcohol is fairly well hidden, but there is so much of it that it still sticks out.
