Commercial Description:
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Decent sized off-white head. Settles slowly to a nice dense creamy foam. Soft caramel aroma with a good shot of alcohol. Nice legs up the size of the glass. Plenty of malts and a hint of squash. Color is a a bright copper. Thick and rich flavor with loads of caramel and malts. Delicious. Very soft mouthfeel and a big alcohol kick. So smooth going down. Finish is creamy and very warming from the alcohol. Damn I like these Eisbocks. A great sipping brew.

served from an 11.2 oz brown bottle, liked the packaging on this one : simple yet elegant. Dark amber coloured beer, very large bubbly/creamy tan head which i thought unusual for this alcohol volume..but it looked cool. Sweet aromas of ripe red apples and sweet bing cherries, stronger sherry like tones also picked up..quite complex. Quite a bitter/sweet taste, both clash early but somehow it works. This does taste a little like a good sweet sherry and of cherries. The alcohol is noticable but not ugly. Semi dry/woody finish. Long lasting and pleasurable after tastes. Pretty nice on the palate, smooth with low carbonation make this an ideal "sipper". Drinkable? yes but not one that is gonna be a session beer LOL. Just a nice after dinner cold weather dessert beer, which I found I liked. unlike most here apparently!!

11.2 oz. brown bottle. Best before Jan 02, 2004. Poured out a deep copper color, with no head to speak of, but a slight lacing around the rim of the glass. Aromas are strongly of malts, with a slight candi sugar sweetness in it as well. Slight aroma of hops, nothing too noticeable though. Tasted thick & chewy, like an oatmeal stout almost. Surprizing for a beer of this ABV. Sweet, coats the tongue with a syrup-like consistency. Finishes sweet & strong, with the alcohol making an appearance at the end.

Pours a very nice bright copper colour, with a correct head that fades quickly, leaving some lace that fades too in a couple of minutes. Smell is of dark fruits and brandy or port, with hints of vanilla, almonds and cherries, and caramel too. Taste is sweet, very strong, caramel. Vanilla and cherries are noticed too, with a slightly bitter touch in the end. This is really a very fine beer, but if you have tried Samichlaus before... it pales in comparison. Then again, any other beer do.

Aroma is bold sweet malts. Taste is similar, though you can actually find some peppery hops having a wee say. Very very drinkable with the alcohol well hidden, one for when you need something sweet and strong and cant find samichlaus.

Bottle. Pours a redish brown color with a nice big white head (which fades quickly) that leaves nice glass lacing. Aroma is malty, watery, some notes of raisins and dried rapberries. Flavor is very sweet like candied fruits and whiskey. Mouthfeel is very sticky and has just the right amount of tingle. Alcohol is very well hidden. A tasty beer. I really liked this one. I wonder how why it’s rated so low.

Bottled@EBF 2008. Brilliant deep amber color, virtually no head. The aroma has a soft, delicate sweet and nutty malt profile, lots of ripe fruits and a noticeable, but inoffensive alcohol scent. Taste is vinous, gently sweet, full malty with a plummy fruitiness. Notes of mild bittering hops, molasses and port. Chewy mouthfeel. Full-bodied. A pleasant alcohol heat in the finish. Powerful and balanced. A treat.

Pours amber with a medium tan head. Aroma is sweet rich caramel malt. Flavor is big, sweet caramel malt, slightly roasty and nutty, and with a bit of alcohol in there as well. Really good.
