humulus (337), Salem, Missouri, USA Dec 31, 2006 Updated: Jan 3, 2007 Aroma is rich and full of honey buttered sweetness with a touch of molasses. In the glass, she is amber with golden highlights and a light, off-white head. The flavor is smooth, sweet and luscious, but does harbor a medicinal quality. I taste candy corn, vanilla and an oaken quality. The palate is initially smooth and silky, but turns a bit acrid on the finish. Not a champ, not a chump; rather a distiguished beverage that is easy and satisfying to anyone that doesn’t pay too much attention to detail. That being said, the details exposed, this beer falls just a little on the safe side of forgiveness; may we all be so lucky.
Rynoplasty (290), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Dec 3, 2008 Pours amber with a medium tan head. Aroma is sweet rich caramel malt. Flavor is big, sweet caramel malt, slightly roasty and nutty, and with a bit of alcohol in there as well. Really good. sinte (78), udine, Italy Nov 27, 2008 Clear amber body with a small, creamy, off-white head, mostly diminishing with a fair lacing.
Malty aroma (toffee) with hitns of plum.
Strong alcoholic character.
Moderate sweet flavour.
Medium body with an oily texture; soft carbonation; strong alcoholic feeling in the finish.
Not very satisfactory; alcoholic character too dominant. craftycarl21 (244), South Hero, Vermont, USA Nov 26, 2008 Pours a very clear amber with little head. Aroma strong with molasses, plum, and malt. Flavor is excellent, with the molasses combining with malt, honey, and caramel to create a really nice sweet but drinkable brew. Palate is nice- not too thick like many beers of this sweetness, but still sticks to the tongue quite nicely. Very nice beer. brewski519 (31), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA Nov 21, 2008 Ahh - EKU 28 - my first foray into anything not Anheuser Busch related years and years ago on my first trip to Germany in the Air Force. Recently had another at the Flying Saucer in Raleigh NC. Nice orange/amber color when brought to the table. Lots of fruity aromas and could also detect the hops quite well. The taste actually delivered what appeared to be toffee and toasted malt. Could certainly pick up the alcohol in the beer but it goes down well. A good beer that reminds me of some good times. jimmack34 (160), Ohio, USA Nov 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber brown with creamy thick, off white head. Smells like regurgitated fruit, very sour discustingly sweet. Tastes very unpleasant, overly fermented fruity, dark, sticky, hard to drink. Strong presence of alcohol. Not for me, though. I paid alot for a 6 pack, but ended up giving the rest of it away.
