| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 15, 2003 Bottled. Near black, almost no head. Sweet and buttery with coffee aroma. The malt profile is strange, it feels boldly malty up front, but the malt flavour is short, and ands a bit fizzy. Low bitterness. Oakes (8115), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 3, 2003 Dark brown. Toffee, slight coffee bean aroma. Slightly watery in the palate (as doppelbocks go). Fair bit of coffee - I'm surprised they relied so heavily on the roast barley in this beer. JoeMcPhee (5025), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Bottle shared by maxxdaddy. Brown cloudy appearance. Aroma is loaded with cold coffee, dark toasted grain and a bit of chocolate. Strange buttery/butterscotch aroma that comes and goes depending on whether you swirl or not. Flavour is slightly sour but it has an unusual sweetness with lots of coffeeish character. A bit of brown sugar and molasses, but again, a vegetal cold coffee flavour. It’s not great, but it’s a hell of a lot better than it’s paler brother. Cornfield (4972), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 9, 2005 Enjoyed with RAYBOY01 & frankenkitty: This labels itself as a triple bock, and perhaps justifiably so. It poured a thick dark brown with a minimal head. The aroma is a worty-like sweetness with a hint of chocolate, some dark brown sugar, and an appreciable amount of smoke. Creamy and full of sweet malt that’s lightly smoked, this hides its alcohol content well. Sweet sticky finish with a touch of hop bitterness finally emerging.

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Mar 1, 2008 Super toasty aroma, like really toast, more than any beer I’ve other had. When you swirl this you get a bit of sourness that probably shouldn’t be there. An odd sweetness/sourness in the flavor, behind some espresso and more toast. A little off and odd, though the aroma is quite good. Could be better if it wasn’t likely infected. jazz88 (2238), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 14, 2007 Bottle in Buenos Aires in December 2007. A dark brown to black color with a brown head. A wonderfully robust aroma with bitter chocolate, molasseses, and caramel. Sweet bitter chocolate flavors with a smooth and rich body and a great finish.
