Pours golden in color with about two inches of head. Smell is very nice citrus and piney, grassy hops. Taste is more of the citrusy and piney hops, however there is something at the very end of each sip that just isn’t fitting. A very dominant off flavor at the finish. Everything up until that point is very good however.
BelgianBeerGal (1035), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Oct 9, 2008 Bottled from trade with golubj. Pours a cloudy gold colour with a medium white head and sheet lacing. Pleasant aroma of hops, pine and alcohol. Initial flavour is of strong bitterness from pine resin but that turns a little sharp in the finish. There is a metal quality to the finishing bitterness and it lingers a LONG TIME. Not my favourite IPA. JoeMcPhee (3899), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Sep 13, 2008 Thanks to cloudskipper for this one. Hazy amber beer with a thick white head. Nice light piny aroma. Some light grapefruit and citrus and then more pine/spruce character. Flavour is really hoppy. Pine and earthy resins with a lovely sweet grapefruity citrus. Very assertive bitterness with lots of lingering hoppy resinousness. There is also a touch of spiciness. As it warms some more perfumy cologne like character comes out. Quite rich and quite tasty. alexanderj (1420), San Diego, California, USA Sep 9, 2008 Bottle; poured a murky, toasted orange. Aroma of juicy grapefruit, chewy caramel; nice aroma. Flavor was something akin to roasted hops, not sure exactly. Quite distinct. The hops overshadowed the malt abit too much, as it was very bitter for the style. alexsdad06 (688), Ohio, USA Aug 30, 2008 12 oz. bottle courtesy of golubj. Pours a hazy amber with a smaller white head. The aroma is right in line with many other west coast IPAs; citrus, pine, and floral hops along with moderately sweet caramel. The flavor is more of the same nice citrus, pine, floral hops with a decent amount of caramel malt. I did also have a bit of an off flavor mid to late in the taste, but it was not too distracting. Medium bodied, with nice dry bitterness in the finish. kosko20 (199), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Aug 28, 2008 Thanks to golubj!! Murky copper in color with a small white head. Ah yes, hops in the aroma, citrus and pine but also with another note...malts and...can’t figure it out. Flavor is very pleasant and strange. Hop start with malts, barley and yeast following. This is an interesting brew for sure. I’m really enjoying the flavor, balanced very nicely. The finish is slightly bitter, slightly dry. The dry part feels a bit grainy otherwise it would be a 5. Very impressed.
