Lothore (276), California, USA May 2, 2009 A- Pours a clear auburn hue with an off white, fizzy head which dissipates quickly.
S- Aroma is very faint sugary sweetness and hints of grainy malt.
T- Grainy malts dominate the flavor with a cloying sweetness toward the end that has no distinct flavor.
M- Thin with a lot of carbonation.
D- This one was one of the harder ones for me to drink of the night. A friend described it as smelling like gym socks but I just attributed it to being a little too sweet with an off flavor i couldnt put my finger on. SamGamgee (1394), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Mar 28, 2009 Draught at the brewpub as Johnny Re-Blaze Beer; maybe its just a new batch, but the description did say that it was an amber pale ale. Amber red with a big off-white head. Strong anise and hops aroma. Light caramel malt flavors with medium hops and some anise. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Definitely interesting and drinkable stuff. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Oct 18, 2007 Has a somewhat sweet and metallic aroma. Pours reddish. Flavor is soapy malt with a wierd undertone. Kind of peppery in the finish. I think this had Anise seeds or something like this which probably gave it that "odd" flavor. Probably my least favorite of their brews.
