Commercial Description:
Gold Medal winner at the 1994 Great American Beer Festival for Classic English Pale Ale. And then a Bronze in 2003 for English Styled Summer Ale. This Classic English Pale Ale is delightfully refreshing medium bodied golden ale. It is moderately hopped to give the beer a smooth taste and subtle spicy/floral aroma.

12oz bottle. Fruity and spicy aroma including the likes of subdued pineapple, mango, orange, and light clove. Poured a clear golden-light orange color. The white head reduced quickly to a thin film. Light bodied and dry with citrus fruit, clove, and green vegetable notes. There were also some pale malt and cereal undertones. So so.

good, decent ale: wet and chalky mouthfeel; hearty flavor, yet mostly reminiscent of biscuits, light lemon-pepper, and nothing much else... oddly good--never expecting great, however.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Brennan’s Country Farm Market in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Pours a semi hazy golden blonde brew with a thin white head that quickly dissipates to a white ring. Aroma of light caramel malt, some bread character with a fruity hop scent that even has some black pepper. Taste is light to medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of light caramel malt, some light dry biscuits, flowery hops, pineapple and a touch of lemon. Finish is semi-sweet, with a dry mild hop aftertaste.

Bottle from beeronthewall. Hazy dark straw pour with 1-finger splotchy off-white head and some orange hues seeping through. The aroma is caramel malty, crisp, with hops, pineapple, black pepper, orange marmalade. Tastes very hoppy, on the dry side, citric, crisp. Almost mouth-puckeringly hoppy and citric and perhaps lacking a bit of malt in the bill, but without a doubt, this is one of the most, if not the most, hoppy and citric golden ales I have yet quaffed, and I enjoyed it a great deal.

Appearance: Pours a golden body with a foamy, white head. Smell: Aroma of dry, crumpled crackers with a light floral hop scent. Taste: Stale, forgotten crackers with only a drop of sweetness. Floral hop flavor with a bitterness that grows into the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: I wasn’t a fan of this at all.

Aroma is light grain, light hops. Flavor is very similar. Bready with a soft bitter finish. Very refreshing and pretty thin.

Pours a slightly rich golden with a frothy, clingy-lacing white head. Aroma of earthy grassy green English hops and some faint pale malt. Starts with decent grainy malty body and some soapy piny English hop character toward a mildly bitter floral finish. Fairly true to style, but I’m not a big fan of the hop profile.
