skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 21, 2009 Tap in Cali sometime last year. Orangish pour. Lightly hopped and fruity aroma. Flavor is much of the same. Medium body. Fruits up front, light hops towards the back. Nice touches of sweet malts throughout. Decent beer. marcus (1821), Sacramento, California, USA Sep 11, 2009 This orange/copper ale poured with a rich beige head and a toffee aroma. There is also a toffee flavor with enough hop bitterness to keep it balanced. It’s a pretty good amber ale. joeneugs (282), Livermore, California, USA Aug 3, 2009 Pours dark amber with a small off white head. Hoppy aroma with fruit basket and spicy caramel/toffee malts. The flavor is caramel malty and fruit. Very plummy with a strong hop bitterness in the end. A nice beer. nickd717 (1265), Palo Alto, California, USA Jul 24, 2009 Bottle from City Beer in SF. Clear orangish amber color with a small white head. Aroma of bready malt and slight citrusy hops. Flavor is malty with toffee, fruit notes, and a little diacetyl. Would be good if not for that slight off-flavor. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jul 1, 2009 Pours a clear orange colour with a thin white head. Aroma is really nice with plenty of berry fruit on the nose. Sweet apple taste, something similar to a cider taste. A brown ale? I totally would not have guessed it. nuplastikk (1157), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jun 29, 2009 12oz bottle. Brownish-red color with a minimal, patchy head. Lots of amber malt in the aroma, quite deep and pungent. Tastes a little past it’s prime to me, but Ambers are odd creatures I suppose. Some off flavors of butterscotch, diacetly bomb. Borderline sour. Not really bad I suppose, just seems like it’s way past it’s prime. Medium bodied. OK at best. kramer (2406), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA May 31, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy amber body with a large foamy off-white head that took forever to subside. The nose is showing a good bit of diacetyl with a bit of toasted malt. The diacetyl plays a major role in the flavor as well unfortunately, covering up most of what thin malt is present. Just a little bit of sweet toffee and caramel gets by all the butter. Minimal to no hoppiness. Mouthfeel is light bodied with a slick slight clinginess. Not so good, but I have a pretty heavy dislike for beers that show a heavy buttery quality to them. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England Apr 13, 2009 On tap at Zeitgeist, San Francisco, 27th March 09, with Phyllis. Hazy darkish amber. Toffee malt flavour, decent.
