Elevator Barrel Aged Barley Wine

On tap at brewpub today, 1-20-09. Murky brown, thin wispy head. Heavy malty aroma, vague rubber impression. The waitress said this was 13% abv? Whatever it was, the alcohol was extremely well hidden flavor-wise though I definitely felt it. Medium bodied, properly carbonated. Caramel(?) sweetness, barrel bitterness in the middle. This simply tastes great. Everything is very well integrated, especially the whiskey heat which is not overdone. Perhaps the best barley wine in Ohio.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours clear brown with no head. Sweet malt aroma with tons of bourbon. Strong but not unbearable bourbon flavor blends well with the caramelly and fruity sweetness of this brew. This is barrel aging well executed.
