Depressively tranquil Englsih-style ale.

I did not find much to like about this one.
I dislike:
Nothing stands out. Neglectable hops fail to balance the sweetness developed. Dull grainy (red grain, red rice) malt profile with strong huskiness and sweet caramel. Toastiness is never considered, feels watery and stale on the palate. One of their less shining beers, that or it was not at its freshest. hopscotch (5534), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

The nose is sweet, medicinal and metallic. Medium-bodied with fizzy carbonation. The flavor is balanced and a hint acidic, but otherwise, there’s really nothing going on. Crisp, tangy finish. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 3, 2006 Draft at brewpub. Poured reddish amber with an average frothy white head that diminished slowly with fair lacing. Medium body. Solid balanced malt and hop flavor with a medium finish. Good brew with soft finish. daknole (3023), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 3, 2003 Elevator changed the name on this one from Bott Brothers ESB in an attempt to avoid scaring customers away with the word "bitter" and to cash in on OSU. Whatever. On draught at Players Sports Bar in the Adam's Mark hotel in downtown Columbus. Pours a rich amber color with a thin off-white head. Aroma is fairly hoppy with malt undertones. Medium-bodied and really not all that bitter after all. Slightly sweet finish after you get through the initial hops aftertaste. Not a great beer but I wish every hotel bar had an option like this. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 16, 2006 Woody brown, thin beady head. Nice, slightly candied aroma. Light-bodied, dry, chalky, cocoa. Light roast bittering in the finish. Pleasant enough. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 9, 2006 Sample at the brewpub - Pours red with a fluffy offwhite head that does lace some. Aromas of caramel malts and a balance of some citrus hops. Flavor is a nice balanced caramel malt base with notes of toffee, and some citrus and floral hops on the finish. Very drinkable and one of their better brews even though I’m not strong on the style. jsquire (2121), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 12, 2009 Reddish amber color with a disappating white head. The apple and appircot fruitiness in the nose was overpowered by the hair spray/alcohol. Harsh raw hops with some grass and orange zest, over some apple sauce and toasted malt. Good marketing to OSU fans, but really not a very interesting beer.
